Here is a ready-to-go middle school famous artist research project for your students in 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th grade. Each student will choose a famous artist, complete focused research about their life and artistic style, and create an organized project with paragraphs and visuals to share their learning. How to Use: •Print pages 2-13 for each student. •Page 2 has instructions for the project including spots to write due dates and a checklist to keep students on track. You can assign a specific era for students to pick artists from or give them a list of artists. •Page 3 has seven different prompts for students to research. Each student needs to pick at least four prompts to include in their unique project. •Pages 4-6 are graphic organizers for your students to use as they take notes and record their research sources (page 6 is optional). •Pages 7-9 are templates for students to use to write at least four paragraphs about their artist (page 9 is optional). They could also type and print these paragraphs instead. •Page 10 is for students to use to draw a portrait of their artist. They could choose to use the artist’s style as inspiration. •Page 11 is for students to show samples of the artist’s paintings and style. For scatter plots that suggest a linear association, informally fit a straight line, and informally assess the model fit by judging the closeness of the data points to the line. CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.8.SP.A.3 Use the equation of a linear model to solve problems in the context of bivariate measurement data, interpreting the slope and intercept.For example, in a linear model for a biology experiment, interpret a slope of 1.5 cm/hr as meaning that an additional hour of sunlight each day is associated with an additional 1.5 cm in mature plant height.

ANCIENT EGYPTIAN TOMB BUILDING Help your students learn about the development of different Egyptian tombs from the earliest rock pit burials to the tombs of the Valley of the Kings. Students will learn about the different ways, and reasons, why tombs were constructed in different places and ways and for different reasons. PITS & MASTABAS Introduces students to natural mummification and burials in sands and rock pits. They then learn about the construction of Mastaba tombs during the early Old Kingdom period and their appearance/sizes. PYRAMIDS Students learn about the development of pyramid building during the reign of Djoser with the construction of the Step Pyramid at Saqqara. The section then covers the development in pyramid building under the pharaoh Snefru with the construction of the Bent, Medium, and Red pyramids. Students then learn about the construction of the Great Pyramid at Giza and later pyramids built on the same site by his successors. Lastly they learn about the building of smaller mud-brick pyramids and the highly decorated pyramid of Unas. UNDERGROUND TOMBS Covers the First and Second Intermediate Periods when many older tombs were robbed and the decision by Egypt's rulers to begin burials underground in and around the Valley of the Kings during the New Kingdom period with the creation of large, highly decorated tombs. ACTIVITIES Students can work to create an illustrated timeline showing the history of tomb building. There is also an additional activity to help them learn about the different stages of the construction of the Great Pyramid. Students can also complete a fun crossword puzzle activity .

A pile of "Factor" cards with a multiplication fact (example 4 x 7) and a pile of "Product" cards. Students flip one card over from each pile and earn a point by being the fastest to find the matching product with the multiplication equation. Only ONE match per set of cards! This is a great game for students to practice a variety of math multiplication facts in a fun and engaging way...they won't even know they are practicing their facts! This game can also increase the speed in which they solve their facts. Use as an early finisher activity, part of your daily lesson/ curriculum , or an indoor recess game. What You Get: This is aPercentages of Amounts Pennant Activity.It is a 19-page printable that includes pennants printed 2 per page. There are 32 flags with percent problems. There are 2 blank flags at the end for students to create their own questions. They can swap and solve each others. This is also an opportunity to give students more scaffolded questions or challenging depending on ability. An answer key is included. How To Implement This Pennant Activity: You can print off all the flags. Depending on your class, you’ll want to decide how many flags you want each student to complete. If you have a small class size, you may have students complete 3 or more flags each. Give students time to find the percentages and write their answers. There is enough space on the flags for students to work out the problem. Students can cut out their pennants and you can display them in the classroom or in the hallway.
