Spring Two Step Equation Maze March Activity

This spring-themed maze is one of those activities students actually enjoy while practicing two-step equations. Instead of just solving problems on a worksheet, they move through a path by finding the correct answers, which keeps them focused much longer than usual. I created this to give middle school students extra practice with solving linear equations without it feeling repetitive. They’ll work with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division as they go from one step to the next. The setup is simple. Students solve an equation, look for their answer, and follow the maze to the next problem. If they make a mistake, they usually notice it quickly because they end up stuck, which helps them self-correct. It works well for grades 6–9, especially for review lessons, early finishers, or even as a quick activity before a test. I’ve also used it in small groups and turned it into a timed challenge, which students tend to like. There are two versions included, so you can choose an easier or slightly more challenging option depending on your class. This makes it easier to use with mixed ability levels. Answer keys are included with the full solutions, so students can check their work or you can go over it together. The file is a printable PDF (9 pages), ready to use with no prep.

For example, the learners could sort clothing items based on the feature of long sleeves, the function of keeping warm, or the class of pants. They could also be asked to sort clothes based on a combination of these criteria, such as sorting long sleeve shirts that are also suitable for cold weather. The instructor could also provide feedback and additional information about the clothing items and their features, functions, and classes. By completing this activity , the learners will improve their critical thinking and analytical skills as they learn to categorize and classify objects based on different criteria. This resource was developed to meet the requirements of the 8th Grade Expressions & Equations Standards below: CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.8.EE .B.5 Graph proportional relationships, interpreting the unit rate as the slope of the graph. Compare two different proportional relationships represented in different ways. For example, compare a distance-time graph to a distance-time equation to determine which of two moving objects has greater speed. Pre-Requisites: Students should already have a general understanding of how to write an equation from a verbal description, how to test for proportionality between any two ratios, and how to graph coordinates. PLEASE NOTE: This lesson was made to build off of the extensive work done in 7th grade on proportional relationships and would not be thorough enough for a classroom that is taking the 7th grade state test .

These high school financial literacy worksheets will show your students why compound interest is helpful for investors while also letting them practice math skills using percentages and a simple mathematic formula! How to Use: Print 4 pages for each student. Page 1 teaches students how to calculate compound interest step by step. Students need to have a basic understanding of writing percentages in decimal form and multiplying to find the percent of a number. Next, students will be given their initial investment amount & a yearly interest rate. Each student in your class can be given different values so they have to do their own unique calculations, and to allow comparisons to be made. This provides for easy differentiation as well- you can choose what percentage interest rate each student gets based on their ability. Students will calculate the amount of compound interest they earn over ten years. They can then check their calculations using the compound interest formula that is included. Make sure to point out how compound interest is helpful for investing and saving and detrimental for borrowing money. Finally, students reflect on their learning by writing a paragraph after the lesson. Hopefully they will leave class wanting to start a saving account! If you are teaching your students about the different types of conflict in plays, novels, short stories and movies, check out this visual assignment to add to your teaching toolkit! It includes a handout which reviews the parts of a story (exposition, the rising action, climax, the falling action and the resolution) as well as the protagonist versus the antagonist. Then you can teach your students about four distinct types of conflict in all kinds of literature: 1) Character versus Character: A conflict between the main character and a villain or antagonist. 2) Character versus Society: A conflict between the main character and parts of the specific society they live within. 3) Character versus Nature: A conflict between the main character and nature including hunger, animals, or extreme weather. 4) Character versus Self: A conflict between the main character and their desires, ethics, or thoughts. Next, help your class brainstorm examples of each type of conflict from popular books, movies and plays they know. Students will illustrate each type of conflict on their graphic organizer. This is an easy way to help your pupils find meaning in and recall their learning. The completed illustrations can make a wonderful bulletin board display. An Answer Key is Included!
