The Carnival of the Animals – Finger Puppets with Pocket and Backdrop Printable Craft Activity for Music and Storytelling This printable teaching resource is designed to accompany the famous classical suite “The Carnival of the Animals” by Camille Saint-Saëns . Need a fun, engaging activity for practicing skip counting by 2 with your kiddos? This math bingo game is perfect for getting your students focused on skip counting in 2s! Preparation: Print and laminate enough Bingo Boards for each student to have one Optional: print, cut and laminate the Playing Squares Print, cut and laminate the Calling Cards. Lamination is optional, but recommended, as it will ensure that the game remains in good condition and can be used for many years to come! To avoid excessive printing and laminating, the Playing Squares could be replaced with other manipulatives such as buttons or counters. Alternatively, students could mark squares off on their Bingo Boards with dry erase markers and then simply clean the boards again after playing (provided that you have laminated the boards) How to Play: Each student needs a Bingo Board and at least 7 Playing Squares (or other manipulatives or a dry erase marker) Shuffle the Calling Cards and place them in a pile. Draw a Calling Card and call out and/or display the contents of the card. Each student looks on their Bingo Board for a block that matches the Calling Card. If they find one, they cover that block with a Playing Square. Draw a new Calling Card and repeat the process. The game continues until somebody wins. To win, a student must shout out “BINGO!” when they have covered three blocks in a row (horizontally, vertically or diagonally). If the Calling Cards run out before anybody wins, simply shuffle them again and continue playing. Please note: Sometimes there may be more than one block on the Bingo Board that matches the Calling Card. The student may only cover one block on a turn. Once that turn is over, the Playing Square may not be moved to cover a different block. This resource includes 5 different bingo board, in colour as well as black and white. This is a passage about the more "impossible" moments in Winter Olympic history. It is written on a 3rd-4th grade level and talks about the 1980 US Hockey Team and the 1988 Jamaican Bobsled team. These are two winter sports that the students are likely familiar with and the stories are interesting so it engages students while they read and answer questions. You can use this as a center, guided reading activity , homework, assessment, or just general reading check. The passage is available as a printable activity or there is a link to a Google Slides activity for students to complete digitally. An answer key is provided. Students can practice reading comprehension skills with these UM word family mats. Students can practice reading UG words in isolation and in the context of sentences. The words in this set follow a CVC or CCVC spelling pattern. Included in this resource: This resource includes one word mat and one sentence mat, both for reading UM words in insolation and in context. There are also picture cards that correspond with each word and sentence. To complete this activity, students will read each UG word or sentence on the mat and then match the corresponding pictures. Students can work independently or with a partner to complete this activity. How to Use these UM word Family Mats: The students can simply lay the images on top of the word or sentence. They can be placed in a file folder utilizing hook and loop fasteners to attach the images. A magnetic activity can be created by using a baking sheet and magnets to affix the images. Students will love the hands-on nature of this activity. If you want to give students extra practice with place value, I have just the resource for you. What You Get: This is a set of Place Value Activity Sheets that was designed for 2nd grade students who are working on or have mastered place value with higher digit numbers. It may be a great fit for 3rd grade students who need additional practice. It also works well as a review for students. It is a 4-page printable. How To Implement This Resource: You can print off enough copies of this worksheet for each student to have. You may also choose to print only a few copies and laminate those. If you choose to laminate them, students can use dry erase markers to write answers. This is a great way to turn this into a math center or small group activity. The first two pages have tables for students to complete. Students will look at the number in the first column and use that number to complete the following two columns. All numbers are 2-digit or 3-digit numbers. The other 2 columns are: -- What do the digits mean? (6 TENS + 3 UNITS) -- Sum and Total (60 + 3 = 63) The last two pages will have 10 problems for students to complete. Each problem will have place value cards broken up into hundreds, tens, and units. Students will write what number that makes when put together. This is great as an independent assignment, but students may also work together in small groups or partners to complete it.
