Students can celebrate the 100th Day of School by playing this roll to 100 game. Students will have fun and stay engaged while playing this single player or two player game. How to Play: * Single Player Game -- Students will use 1 die to roll. They will color in the number of spaces they rolled and keep going until they reach 100. They will have an opportunity to predict how many rolls it will take and then record the actual number of rolls they made. Students may need different colored crayons or markers to make it easier to count the number of rolls. * Two Player Game - Students can race to see who reaches 100 first by rolling their die and coloring in the appropriate spaces. Students may also take turns rolling on one game board, each coloring their rolls a different color, seeing who covered the most spaces. When to Use: * Independent Game * Partner Activity * Math Center * Morning Work * 100th Day Celebration station or activity Skills Assessed: * Counting to 100 * Recognizing the number rolled on a die * Making predictions * Testing predictions This 100th day roll to 100 game is a now prep activity. Teachers simply need to print the pages and give it to students. Students simply need to be provided a die and something to color with. To make this a reusable activity, the teacher may want to laminate the game mats and give students dry erase markers to record their rolls. An extension activity would be for the teacher assist students in graphing the number of rolls it took for each of the students to reach 100. It can be discussed who had the most rolls, who had the least rolls, and what was the most common number of rolls needed.

This e or ee? Phonic Game is a listening game to help the child to hear the ‘ee’ sound in words, as different to the ‘e’ sound as some children have difficulty hearing the new ‘ee’ sound. This is a simple oral game for 2 players to help to develop the ability to hear the sounds as separate in words without the need to worry about text yet. No die needed. These children may have auditory processing difficulties, of which there are growing numbers of children. With the recognition of the needs of these children and timely intervention, many can survive school. Sadly without it, they may soon fall behind. If you have a child who cannot hear the graphemes in words easily, then find or make a game to help. This is one such game you can use. Background to why I made this game One of my pupils has a speech delay. When I introduced him to ‘ee’, he tried to sound out the words by saying ‘e’ instead of ‘ee’. It was as if ‘ee’ was a foreign sound to him. So, I devised this game to help him to hear the ‘ee’ sound in words he uses frequently in speech. After playing it a few times he is now happily sounding out to read and spell words with the ‘ee’ sound. Who can use thee or ee? Phonic Game? Anyone who is teaching a child who shows difficulty learning to read words with /ee/, trying instead to say /e/. Place magnets on the back of the cards so they stick to the mats on the cookie sheet when sorted. This sorting activity is low prep. The teacher needs to print out the mats and card pages. The card pages need to be cut out so students can sort them. The pages can be laminated if desired so that this sorting activity can be used over and over.

Letter X Letter Sound Sort

This letter sound sort for the letter X is a great hands on activity for recognizing the most common sound of the letter X. This is an easy and fun activity to give students who need practice with recognizing the letter X sound from amongst other letter sounds or for those students who need extra practice distinguishing between the ending sounds in words. To complete this sorting activity , students will look at a picture on a fox to determine if the picture ends with the letter X or does not end with the letter X, and then the students will place the fox on the correct forest mat. This sorting activity includes 3 pages that contains One forest mat for pictures that end with the letter X One forest mat for pictures that do not end with the letter X Fox pictures that end with X Fox pictures that do not end with X This ending sound sort can be used in the following ways Literacy centers Fine motor centers File folder activity Add magnets to the picture cards for a baking tray activity Small group activities Morning work Emergency sub plans If making a file folder game, the teacher will place the mats on either side of the folder and use hook and loop fasteners to sort the fox pictures.
