This is an Ocean Animal Report utilizing the TIDE format. Included in this file you will find a parent letter about the project, prompts for each paragraph, TIDE graphic organizers for three paragraphs of informative writing along with writing paper for the first drafts of each, a blank page for them to create a cover for the report, a page for pictures of the ocean animal, final draft paper, an example of completed organizers and a final draft to match, and a couple of rubric options for both writing and/or oral presentation. The three paragraphs will address: • Why students chose the ocean animal they chose • A few basic facts about the ocean animal (e.g., habitat, diet, physical description) • A few cool or unique facts about the ocean animal Generally, this project takes my students about 4-5 days to complete. The oral presentation takes another day or two. I send home the parent letter a week in advance. I’ve done this with both second and third graders and found it to work well for both. Here’s a further breakdown of the paragraphs: Paragraph One Writing Prompt: Write an informative paragraph explaining why you chose the ocean animal you chose for your report. Paragraph Two Writing Prompt: Write an informative paragraph explaining three basic facts about your ocean animal (e.g., diet, habitat, physical characteristics). This decodable reader helps young learners build fluency by practicing CVC words alongside basic sight words. Designed for kindergarten and first grade, the short story focuses on the AP word family, giving students repeated exposure and extra practice reading simple, phonics-based vocabulary in context. What is Included: This resource contains one emergent reader titled "Nap Time," which includes one cover page and five pages for students to color and read. How to Use: Students will color each page of the book, cut the pages apart, and then assemble the book, making sure the cover page is on top. The subsequent pages can be placed in any order and still be read with meaning. Use a stapler or tape to secure the pages together. The repetitive nature of each page allows students to have success with reading and gives them extra practice with target words! The story and sentences in the book contain simple sight words and words from the word family targeted. This makes them easy for beginning readers to have success with creating and reading each book. Other Uses for this Book: The teacher may create the book by coloring, laminating, and assembling. Transportation Alphabet Clip Cards

Kindergarteners and preschoolers will have a blast practicing letter recognition with these transportation alphabet clip cards. Students will get tons exposure to matching capital and lowercase letters as well as building fine motor skills by using clothes clips to identify each letter. What is Included: Each letter has four clip cards, for a total of 104 clip cards. Activities included with these clip cards are matching a capital letter to the same capital letter, matching a lowercase letter to the same lowercase letter and matching a capital letter with its corresponding lowercase letter. How to Use: To use these clip cards, students will need to use a clip or some other manipulative to mark each clip card. Students will look at the letter on each car card and then clip or cover the letter that matches the letter on the car. The teacher may choose to use other objects, like counters, bingo chips or mini erasers to identify each correct answer. The clip cards can be laminated so students can mark their correct responses with dry erase. Where to Use: Fine Motor or Literacy Center - Simply place the clip cards and clips inside the center for students to complete. Morning Tubs or Baskets - These clip cards can be placed in a morning bin for students to work on while their classmates to arrive to school. Task Boxes - By placing these clip cards in task boxes, the teacher will have an easy to set up activity for students that they can easily complete and clean up on their own. This AM Word Family Sorting Activity is a great resource for your students to practice recognizing AM words and pictures in isolation. This sorting activity includes three different sorts for students to categorize AM family words in an engaging literacy center. Sorts Included in this Literacy Resource Sort words that are included in the AM family from words that are not included in the AM family. Sort pictures that represent words in the AM family from pictures that represent words not in the AM family. Sort between real and nonsense AM words. The teacher can easily differentiate these sorting activities for students who need more or less support to be successful in completing these sorts. How to Use: The teacher can create a file folder sorting activity The teacher can add magnets to the picture pieces and create a cookie tray sorting activity The teacher can place the cards and mats in a box for a simple sorting activity To assemble file folder activities, position the two sorting mats on each side of a file folder. Use the word and image cards for sorting onto the mats. Adding hook and loop fasteners to both the cards and mats ensures the cards remain positioned once sorted. For the cookie tray sorting, attach magnets to each card's back. Lay the mats next to each other on the tray, and the magnets will secure the cards to the mats. These methods provide an interactive literacy station that will captivate your kindergartners and first graders as they learn and practice AG family words.
