u-e Phonic Worksheets for Early Years/Intervention
Special Resources, ELA, Language Development, Phonics, Reading, Spelling, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, Activities, Games, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

This is a pack of 23 phonic worksheets for the Split Vowel U-E (as in true and tune) specially designed for those with special needs, including those with dyslexia or who may be suspected of being dyslexic but will work equally well with young learners in Kindergarten/EYFS/Y1. A pack of 23 worksheets with a variety of exercises to help build phonemic awareness and reading fluency. These sheets are LETRS and UK GOV requirements aligned. These worksheets also align with the most popular phonic programmes, including RWI and Letters and Sounds. What is included? 30 worksheets for the sound EA taking pupils from hearing the sounds in words to reading and spelling them at word and sentence level. all following my special method devised as I privately tutor children of all ages with profound special needs. Your phonics lessons are covered! Tracking, fluency triangles, spelling, reading, games, comprehension exercises....and more! Who are these worksheets for? I have written them for pupils who struggle with processing information - especially sounds. This includes children who are DYSLEXIC or have ANY other kind of processing disorder. Such children may have failed with other methods of teaching phonics. Such pupils need activities that: ·are highly structured - one tiny step at a time building on the one before using only a limited number of words to start with and only using words that the child has already learnt to sound out, with no nasty surprises. ·Have only a little on each pageas these pupils tire easily. What makes these worksheets special? I have a powerful three-step process which I use with my special needs pupils, which is worked out over the course of the 23 worksheets: 1. See it!where we focus on becoming aware of the new sound in words. This involves first hearing the new sound in words and then seeing it in words (tracking). 2. Sound-it-out!Having learnt to see the new sound in words, we learn to sound out these words to read and write them. We begin by usingsound-it-out boxesfor reading and spelling which help the child to segment the word prior to blending the sounds together. Once the child can read and write individual words, we work on fluency by building familiarity with the common words in the new sound family. Once the child can sound the words out to read and spell confidently, we move on to recognising them/using them in longer reading and dictation passages, as soon as the child is able. I provide 2 reading passages with comprehension exercises and one dictation passage, with a page in the workbook dedicated to it, with room for a picture, which again cements understanding. 3. Write it! Incorporated into the above two steps, we constantly write the new sound. This adds a multi-sensory dimension to our work - we see with our eyes, we sound it with our mouth parts and voice, and then we move by writing. All three steps work together to help the child feel in control of his/her learning and to become a successful, confident learner. We finish each sound with a dictation which culminates our work before we move on to the next sound. I try to give the dictation a week after we finish the work on the EA sound to act as revision. The dictation: Read this passage to your pupil, who should write it. Have the child read his/her work and check for errors. Make sure the writing is completely accurate before saying the child has finished, including full stops and capital letters correctly used. Flashcards are included of some common EA words. What is included? 1 PDF with flashcards and 23 worksheets

ee or ea Phonic Game

ee or ea Phonic Game
ELA, Language Development, Phonics, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, Activities, Games

Pick the Apples — ea or ee Spelling Families Card Game: A game for 2 players A simple, fun board game I made to help children distinguish between ea and ee: two digraphs that sound the same but belong to different spelling families. Reading words with these sounds is straightforward once the patterns have been taught — but spelling is much harder. The child must remember not just the sound, but which family the word belongs to. Does feet use ee ? Does eat use ea ? This game gives children repeated, low-pressure practice sorting words into the right family, building the kind of memory that eventually makes correct spelling automatic. How to play: Each player takes a tree baseboard loaded with apple cards. Sound cards ( ea and ee ) and a couple of bad apple cards go into a feely bag. Picture cards are laid face up on the table. On each turn, a player draws a sound card from the bag and must find a picture card showing a word that contains that sound. A Word Bank Card is on hand for checking — the adult can help younger or less confident children locate the right word at first. A correct match lets the player keep the cards and move one apple from the tree to the basket. Draw a bad apple card, and the turn is lost. The first player to pick all their apples wins. Games make for stress-free learning! The bad apple cards introduce an element of luck that children love — and which serves a real purpose. When a child loses, it was the bad apple's fault, not theirs. For children who are used to struggling, that small thing makes a surprising difference. They stay in the game, stay relaxed, and the sorting and matching does its work quietly in the background. Useful for assessment too! Teachers will find the game useful for assessment too. Watch how the child approaches each picture card. Are they thinking about the sound and searching their memory for the right spelling family? Or are they recognising words by sight and hoping for the best? The answer tells you a lot about what to do next.

It’s also a favorite for early finishers or during quieter times when a bit of movement and interaction is helpful. You can laminate the cards for long-term use, or simply print them on heavier paper. The game works in pairs or small groups – and students pick up the rules quickly. Beyond basic counting, the game helps introduce how we group numbers for clarity, which is a useful step toward early data handling and bar graphs. And the sporty theme adds just the right amount of energy. Print, cut, and play – no prep needed, and lots of learning packed into a simple activity. Warm regards, Lernfitness Did You Know? 5 Minute Games Bundle: Super Simple No-Prep Games for Elementary Students (ELA & Math)

5 Minute Games Bundle: Super Simple No-Prep Games for Elementary Students (ELA & Math)
ELA, Math, Early Math, Place Value, Grammar, Language Development, Vocabulary, Spelling, Grade 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Activities, Games

Here are four super quick, no-prep games for any elementary classroom from grade 2 through 6. The games address topics including math, syllables, spelling, rhyme, parts of speech, vocabulary, geography, & critical and creative thinking. Each of the 4 games has its own page of instructions including the skills taught, different player configurations, rules, a sample round, and extension ideas. These games require NO PREP and NO MATERIALS other than writing implements. I suggest whiteboards to save paper. Grades to Use With: These games can be used in almost any elementary classroom (grades 2-6). They are great for the following uses: - Morning/home-room warm-up - TOC back-up activities - To fill the 5 minutes before lunch or the end of the day - As a reward for small-group or one-to-one tutoring The four games are: - 4 Letter Word Game : Start with a 4-letter word on the paper/whiteboard. Players/teams take turns changing one letter at a time to make a new English word. Play until you are stuck or time runs out. - Guess My Number Game : Start with a range based on your students (ex: 1-20 for K, 1-100 for Gr 1-4, 1-200 for Gr 5-7). The teacher (or student if playing in pairs) thinks of a number in that range. The other student (or whole class) has exactly 5 questions of greater than or less than to narrow it down. After 5 questions, they must guess the number. - The Rhyme Game : Start with a word that has many rhymes. (For example: tent, rant, king, see, you.) Do NOT choose duck for obvious reasons. Each student (or each team) has two minutes to make a list of as many rhyming words as they can. Points are counted based on syllables. The longer the word, the more points. After two minutes, tally the scores to find the winner. - Categories: Start by writing 5 categories from the following options on the board: animals, cities, verbs, fruits, toys, pet names, countries, adjectives, beverages, colours, holidays, vehicles, movies, kitchen tools, flowers, books. Then choose one letter of the alphabet. Students get two minutes to think of a word for each category staring with that letter. What's Included: 5 page PDF: Title Page and 4 single-page game instructions
