Literary Award Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
Literary Award Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this literary award vocabulary puzzle set for my 4th graders during our reading unit. The kids could name some famous book awards but had no idea what words like award, medal, or honor meant when we talked about recognizing great books. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like award, medal, honor, Newbery, Caldecott, prize, judge, and winner. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the literary award vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a medal and a prize are the same thing. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple medal, star, and book drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one award-winning book they have read on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Stress Management word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this stress management puzzle set for my 4th graders during our health unit. The kids could feel stressed about tests or friends but had no idea what stress was or how to calm down. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like stress, worry, calm, relax, breathe, deep breath, count, stretch, walk, move, music, draw, talk, friend, parent, teacher, sleep, rest, healthy, and cope. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the stress management strategies finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether taking deep breaths really helps. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple calm cloud, breathing star, and stress ball drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers name two ways to calm down when feeling stressed on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Grade 4 Landforms word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
Grade 4 Landforms word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this landforms puzzle set for my 4th graders during our geography unit. The kids could identify a hill and a river, but they had no idea what words like plateau, canyon, or delta meant when we started reading about different landforms. They also kept mixing up "mountain" and "hill." So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like mountain, valley, plateau, plain, hill, canyon, desert, island, peninsula, coast, delta, river, lake, ocean, volcano, and cave. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "peninsula" or whether a plateau is higher than a mountain (it's not—they always have opinions about it) . The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have pictures of each landform nearby for the kids who need the visual support to see the difference between them . I added a couple simple mountain, river, and island drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick three landforms and draw a tiny landscape on the back, labeling each one. The kids actually ask for these now. Broaden the landform review with a geography crossword , selecting a theme that matches your lesson.

There are 3 language concepts involved: --Subjects (nouns) --Verbs --Adverbs This worksheet is ideal for 2nd grade. Some of your 3rd grade students may also benefit from the additional support. Students will: --Choose a subject and verb from the boxes for each dialogue sentence. --Choose an adverb for several of the sentences as well, but not all of them! --Only use each word once. --Decide what is being said and write the sentences with correct punctuation. The first sentence is completed for students. There is space to write 10 sentences. The 11th sentence will be for students to make up their own. This final sentence is a great extension activity. ELL English Phonics for Spanish Speakers word search, scramble and cro
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
ELL English Phonics for Spanish Speakers word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this phonics puzzle set specifically for my Spanish-speaking newcomers during our first reading unit. The kids were learning letter sounds, but they kept getting confused by the vowels because English short vowels sound so different from Spanish. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using basic three-to-four letter words that have clear phonetic patterns and are useful for building vocabulary. I included words like cat, dog, sun, hat, pig, red, box, fish, and milk, all with picture clues to help connect the sound to the meaning. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the early phonics skills finally stick for kids who are building a foundation in both language and literacy. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for independent practice after a direct phonics lesson because the visual scanning reinforces letter recognition without requiring a lot of oral language. The scramble gets them talking because they recognize the word "casa" in Spanish but need to figure out "house" in English, or they see "sol" and have to find "sun." The crossword I use for partner work or as a quick warm-up, and I always have picture cards nearby for extra support. Works best for beginners at the upper elementary or middle school level who are just starting to sound out words in English. I've even had success using it with adult ESL learners who need a confidence boost. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw a picture of one of the words and label it on the back. The kids actually ask for these now, and I can see the difference in their decoding skills after just a few uses.

Grade 6 Ratios and Proportions word search, scramble and crossword puz
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Not Grade Specific, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
Grade 6 Ratios and Proportions word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this ratios and proportions puzzle set for my 6th graders during our math unit. The kids could compare quantities but had no idea what words like ratio, proportion, or equivalent meant when we started using the vocabulary. They also kept mixing up "part to part" and "part to whole." So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like ratio, proportion, compare, relationship, part to part, part to whole, equivalent, scale, cross multiply, fraction, colon, for every, per, constant, and rate . I also included a few like "scale factor" and "unit rate" because they kept coming up in our class discussions . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "proportion" (it's a tricky one) or whether 2:3 is the same as 4:6 (it is—they always have opinions about it) . The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have a ratio table or double number line nearby for the kids who need the visual support to see the relationships . I added a couple simple fruit bowl and mixing paint drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 6th through 7th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write a ratio comparing boys to girls in the class on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
