Seven variations of a decimal place value chart run from the thousands column down to millionths, printed in Montessori place-value colors so that decimal places appear as lighter shades of their matching whole-number column. Chart 1 is blank for open placement of counters or beads; Charts 2 and 3 add place-value names using "units" or "ones"; Charts 4 and 5 add numeric and fractional values; and Charts 6 and 7 combine names and values so they can double as an answer key when checking label placement. Printable labels for column names and numeric/fraction values accompany the charts, along with five written lesson procedures covering how to introduce decimals as fractions, build decimal quantities with counters, and practice reading, adding, and subtracting decimal numbers on laminated reusable mats. The materials are designed for center-based or one-on-one Montessori-style instruction rather than a whole-class worksheet. Once students can place digits accurately on these charts, worksheets on multiplying and dividing decimals by powers of ten put that place-value understanding to work, progressing from place-value tables to mental math using changes in digits’ place values.
