The goal of the activity is for the learner to sort the food items that go together to make the sandwich. Other food in this activity is baked potato, hamburger, taco, spaghetti, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, hot dog First, provide the learner with the picture card of the sandwich, and ask them to identify the different food items that go together to make the sandwich. The learner can then sort the food items into groups based on their function in the sandwich, such as the bread, filling, and condiments. To make the activity more engaging, the educator can use real food items instead of picture cards, and ask the learner to physically assemble the sandwich. This will not only reinforce the learner's understanding but also provide a hands-on learning experience. Next you can introduce the different food cards and discuss their differences, such as their taste, texture, and nutritional value. Then present the various sorting cards for the different foods and discuss the various different foods that go with the food card. Some food cards may have some of the same sorting cards For example cheese might be on pizza, baked potato, hamburger and a sandwich which makes it a great time to discuss how the some foods fit in with other foods. Lastly you could discuss the importance of a balanced diet and how the different foods contribute to overall health and well-being. The learner can also be encouraged to come up with their own healthy sandwich combinations, using the knowledge they have gained from the activity . By engaging in hands-on sorting the learner can develop important cognitive skills such as attention to detail, observation, and reasoning. It is also easy to individualize and can be used in a group setting or one on one. This activity is easy to create and assemble. Print and laminate for many years of teaching and learning. Enjoy! Henry Louis Le Chatelier – Understanding Chemical Equilibrium A short reading and worksheet resource for grades 8–10 science classes (PDF + H5P) ⚖️🧪 A printable and digital resource for grades 8–10 science and cross-curricular teaching 🧪🧠 This resource introduces students to Henry Louis Le Chatelier, the French chemist best known for his work on chemical equilibrium. His principle – describing how systems respond to changes in concentration, temperature, or pressure – is a key concept in chemistry classrooms around the world. With this material, students not only learn about Le Chatelier’s scientific contribution but also get a glimpse of the person behind the theory. The tasks are structured clearly and can be used in regular chemistry lessons or as part of a non-specialist substitute plan. No prior knowledge is required to get started, and the layout supports both independent and pair work. Included in this resource: Informational text about Henry Le Chatelier’s life and research A worksheet for creating a scientist profile based on the reading Quiz questions with solutions for quick review Two optional follow-up tasks: – Students create their own questions about the text – Exchange and answer questions in pairs File formats: – PDF (printable and digital) – Editable DOCX (text only) – H5P version (interactive and image-free, suitable for LMS use) How to use it in class: I’ve used this material as part of an introduction to equilibrium in chemistry or to wrap up a unit on reaction rates and reversible processes. The reading offers students some historical context, which helps them see that the science they’re learning is connected to real people and ideas. The H5P format supports digital work and allows for self-checking. It’s also helpful for remote learning or homework. With little to no prep required, this resource makes it easy to enrich your science curriculum. Have fun exploring the world of science with your students! Warmly, Lernfitness Did You Know? Scientist Barbara McClintock - Fact Sheet, Quiz & Interactive Version (PDF & H5P) Barbara McClintock – Genetics and the Discovery of Jumping Genes Fact Sheet, Quiz & Interactive Exercises (PDF + H5P) 🌽🧬 This 45-minute resource introduces students in grades 7–10 to Barbara McClintock – a pioneering geneticist whose research changed the way we understand genes and heredity. Many students know the basics of DNA and inheritance, but fewer have heard of McClintock or her discovery of “jumping genes” (transposons). Working with maize plants 🌽 in the mid-20th century, she found that genes can move within the genome – a finding that was far ahead of its time and only fully recognized years later. To help students access this complex but fascinating topic, I’ve created a compact and ready-to-use lesson. It includes an informational text, a fact sheet, quiz questions with answers, and a creative partner task. All materials come in both color and black-and-white versions, plus there’s an H5P version for digital use. What’s included: A short, student-friendly text about Barbara McClintock and her scientific contributions A fact sheet to help students organize key information Quiz questions (with answer key) for self-checking or review A creative task where students come up with their own questions and exchange them in pairs Formats: Printable/digital PDF and interactive H5P version 💻 Answer key included ✅ I’ve used this material as part of our genetics unit, especially when discussing how scientific ideas are received and validated over time. It also works well in lessons on women in science or the history of biology. Easy to implement and suitable for partner work, independent study, or short projects. 🚀 Download now and bring the legacy of Barbara McClintock into your biology lessons today! 📍 Best wishes, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Chemistry - Atoms and Molecules Dominoes

Chemistry - Atoms and Molecules Dominoes
Science, Chemistry, Grade 6, 7, 8, 9, Activities, Games

A dominoes game with questions and statements on forces and weight and mass instead of answers. Prior Knowledge Atoms are the building blocks of elements. All the atoms of one element are the same but are different to the atoms of other elements. Atoms combine to form molecules. If combining atoms are from the same element, a molecule of an element is formed but if they are from different elements, a molecule of a compound is formed. An element contains only one type of atom. A compound contains two or more different types of atom combined together chemically. Elements are listed in the periodic table. Each element has its own symbol. Some symbols are the capitalized first letter of the name of the element . Some symbols have two letters from the name with only the first capitalized. Some symbols are taken from the Latin name of the element. What You Get 80 dominos Animated PowerPoint explaining the rules and how to play. Rules of the Game Each player selects seven dominos from the top of the face-down pile and holds them in their hand like playing cards. The player whose surname begins with a letter closest to the letter A starts and play proceed in a clockwise direction. Dominos can be matched exactly, or a name can be matched with a symbol or descriptions, sketches and circuit diagrams can be matched. If a player thinks a match is wrong, they can challenge. If the challenger is correct, they give a card from their own hand to the challenged player. If the challenged player is correct, they give a card from their hand to the challenger. Pupils are encouraged to check their books for the correct answer and consult their teacher if a consensus is not reached. If a player cannot play a domino, they pick up from the face down pile and can play if possible or add it to their hand. See more Elf Off the Shelf resources on this topic and many others
