What You Get: This is aCharacter Comparison Activitythat was designed for upper elementary students who have learning or are reviewing this skill. This resource is a 4-page printable. How To Implement This Resource: You will print off enough copies for each student to have. Students will read the 3-page story titled “The Puffed Up Pig.” Because this is a comprehension activity, it’ll be most beneficial to allow students to read this story more than once. You might choose to begin by reading it as a whole group. For a second read, you can have students read it with a partner or in a small group. For a final read, have students read the story independently. When students have finished reading, they will select 2 characters from the story that they want to compare. Each card also includes a bold and colorful image to illustrate each sentence and to help students to learn the meanings of each word. What is Included: This resource includes one reading ring activity for the prefix fore. There are cards each featuring a different word with the prefix fore, with a sentence using the word in context and an image to illustrate that sentence. When to Use Early Finishers - If students finish their work early, they can use these reading rings for extra practice. Small Group Work - Teachers can use these reading rings to target small groups of students who need more practice reading words with prefixes. Independent Practice - Students can work independently at their desks to read this set of prefix cards. Here is a ready-to-go middle school famous artist research project for your students in 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th grade. Each student will choose a famous artist, complete focused research about their life and artistic style, and create an organized project with paragraphs and visuals to share their learning. How to Use: •Print pages 2-13 for each student. •Page 2 has instructions for the project including spots to write due dates and a checklist to keep students on track. You can assign a specific era for students to pick artists from or give them a list of artists. •Page 3 has seven different prompts for students to research. Each student needs to pick at least four prompts to include in their unique project. •Pages 4-6 are graphic organizers for your students to use as they take notes and record their research sources (page 6 is optional). •Pages 7-9 are templates for students to use to write at least four paragraphs about their artist (page 9 is optional). This is a fun, print n' go phonic game to give pupils practice in the spelling and reading of words with ai or the split digraph a-e. Be the first to get to the moon as you find words to fit your rocket - either ai or the a-e words. Objectives This game helps children to learn which combination of letters are used to spell common words in the ‘ai’ and ‘a-e’ sound families. It also gives practice reading ‘ai’ and ‘a-e’ words. Who can use this game? Pupils who have learnt both the digraphs a-e and ai. It is excellent for reluctant learners, special needs, and just about all children. It can also be used with EFL/ESL learners. It can be used by teachers, parents, home educators and private tutors and any others who may find it helpful. For use with any phonic programme, including Read, Write Inc. and Jolly Phonics. How many players are required? This is a game for 2 players. What is included? Full instructions and teaching notes are included. There are 2 baseboards And a mixture of picture/word cards Simply print, cut out the pieces and play. How to play: Each player chooses a rocket baseboard, one for ai and one for a-e . A feely bag contains a mix of picture cards and word cards. Players take turns drawing from the bag. If the card drawn matches their pattern, they place the corresponding rectangular word card onto their rocket. If it belongs to the other player's pattern, it goes back. Picture cards are matched to their word cards before being placed; word cards are matched to their duplicate on the table. The first player to fill their rocket reaches the moon and wins.Chance is central to how the game works, and this is deliberate. Because the outcome depends partly on the luck of the draw, a child can win or lose without it reflecting on their ability. For children who have struggled with spelling and carry anxiety about getting things wrong, this shift matters enormously.
