This educational activity is designed to develop a child's ability to sort and categorize shapes and colors. The activity involves the use of a sorting mat, which is set up horizontally, with various sorting cards with different shapes and colors. The learner will be given a set of cards in different colors, such as red, blue, and yellow, and then given three individual sorting cards for each color or shape and will be asked to sort them horizontally in a line. This activity aims to develop the learner's cognitive skills by helping them recognize similarities and differences between the shapes and colors of the sorting cards. The activity can also help the learner develop their sequencing and writing skills by placing the cards in a specific order horizontally. In this activity there is a sorting mat to sort one color or one shape, as well as a sorting mat to sort two colors and shapes and three colors and shapes. Making this activity easy to individualize for learner. As the learner progresses, the activity can be made more challenging by adding more colors and shapes to the sorting cards. This will help the learner to develop their ability to recognize and differentiate between a wider range of shapes and colors. This is a pack of 8 AR spelling puzzles. How do the AR spelling puzzles help with phonics? Some children have difficulty understanding that two letters can make one sound. As the letters AR are on one part of the picture card - together - the physical manipulation of one piece of the puzzle, with two letters and one sound helps the child to understand. Who are they for? Any child needing help to hear the letters AR as one sound in words. They can be used in the Early Years (Pre-K and K) or for Early intervention, or for Special Needs. Instructions (included in the download): Puzzle Type 1: Cut around the whole of each mini puzzle (4 per page) and then cut each picture into its divisions. To play: ·The child chooses any card. S/he must the find the remaining part/s of the picture to fit together to complete each word. ·As the child does this the teacher should draw the child’s attention to the letters on each card. Ask questions such as: ‘What does ‘farm’ begin with? ‘So ‘f’ comes first’. ‘What sound can you hear next? f-ar?’ ‘Can you find the piece with ‘ar’?’ ‘What sound does ‘farm’ end with?’ ‘Can you find the last piece with ‘m’?’ ·Once each picture is formed, the child should then sound out the word, moving each piece to the right as it is sounded. Emphasise the saying of one sound ‘ar’ for the letters ‘ar’ together. Puzzle Type 2: These puzzles should be completed after Puzzle Type 1. They consolidate learning. Cut each picture puzzle out. Cut out the separate letter cards. To Play: The child chooses a picture. The child sounds out the word: s-t-ar; c-ar; f-ar-m; sh-ar-k; b-ar-n; d-ar-t; c-ar-d; ar-m; c-ar-t; p-ar-k. The child then finds the letter cards needed to spell each word, placing them in the boxes under each card. Ask questions as the child works as for Puzzle Type 1.

Fall Alphabet Memory Game – Uppercase ABC Cards ABC Picture Cards for Letter Recognition and Word Building This fall alphabet memory game is made with uppercase letters only, from A to Z. Each card shows one bold capital letter together with a simple fall picture, such as B with bat or P with pumpkin . I started using it at the beginning of the school year when my kindergarten class was just learning capital letters, and it quickly became a favorite activity. There are six complete decks of 29 cards each. I like having more than one set because I can give different groups their own deck and avoid cards getting mixed together. The most common way we use the cards is as a memory game, where children flip them over and look for pairs. But there are many other options: putting the alphabet in order on the rug, matching letters I call out, or using a single card as a starting point for a quick word game. The focus on uppercase only makes this resource useful for beginners. Students who are still getting comfortable with print can concentrate on learning one letter form at a time. English learners also benefit from the clear images, since they can connect the picture with the letter sound without feeling overwhelmed. Preparation is simple. Print, cut, and, if you want the cards to last, laminate them. I store mine in small envelopes so they are easy to grab during literacy centers, small group rotations, or as an option for early finishers. The autumn theme makes them seasonal, but the skills they reinforce—recognizing uppercase letters, matching letters with sounds, and developing early vocabulary—are important throughout the year. Divorce can be an extremely confusing and emotional time for children. This social story resource aims to clearly explain what divorce means and what to expect in a reassuring way to help ease a child’s worries. The story uses direct, simple language and visual supports. The social story defines divorce in concrete terms as parents living in separate homes without being married anymore. It emphasizes that divorce is between the parents, not the child, and that both parents still love the child and will take care of them, even though they don’t live together. Common changes like moving between two homes and having different routines are covered. The story validates the difficult emotions the child might experience like sadness, anger, or confusion. It outlines how to verbalize feelings and who to talk to if needing support during this transition. The story has a reassuring tone throughout, communicating the consistency and care the child can rely on. Visual supports reinforce the narrative. The direct explanations and matter-of-fact delivery help take some of the uncertainty and abstractness out of divorce. Knowing what to expect reduces anxiety. This social story resource thereby facilitates comprehension and adaptation for children on the spectrum facing the complex life change of parental divorce. It teaches the social-emotional skills these children require to navigate this challenge. These books should be used over and over to reinforce the point so I would suggest either putting the pages into a display book or laminating and binding them.
