I created these blobs-style backgrounds to add a friendly and creative touch to the resources I use with my students – and I now use them regularly across many different formats. Each background is designed in A4 format and comes in three file types (PNG, JPG, TIFF), so you can use them easily in PowerPoint, Canva, Word, or on your digital whiteboard. I made the blobs myself using Procreate, and they’ve quickly become a go-to design element for my materials – from flashcards to worksheet covers to game boards. In this SEL Boom Deck, students will learn about flower (healthy), weed (bothersome) and cactus (unhealthy) friendship behaviors. It is important for students to learn some of the behaviors that are bothersome and frustrating and to learn that they do need to address these sooner rather than later. Just like a weed ignored or not wanting to be dealt with, it can get worse and impact the friendship in a negative way. Some examples of flower (healthy) behaviors are; letting your friends have other friends, being there to help, standing up for them (being an upstander), and many more. Some of the weed (bothersome) examples are; bragging, copying a friend, not paying a friend back for borrowing money, and more. Some examples of cactus (unhealthy) behaviors are; being mad if something good happens to a friend, putting a friend down, gossiping, not letting a friend join their other friends, and many more. There are 24 task playing cards and 5 instructional cards so this can be played as a whole classroom lesson, a small group lesson, with partners or assigned to individuals to do as homework. There is a handout that matches the concepts for students to fill out to remember the different friendship behaviors and a question about what they can do if there friend is exhibiting either a weed or cactus type friendship behavior. This is a Boom Deck that is great for 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade, and sixth grade. If there are strong readers or the classroom teacher or school counselor can read each slide, this could be something 2nd grader also do. You know your students best and can judge whether the examples are relevant to your students. -errorless learning- Errorless learning is a teaching technique that involves minimizing errors during the learning process by providing learners with prompts or cues to help them avoid making mistakes. This approach is particularly effective with young early learning students because it can help build their confidence and prevent frustration, which can be major barriers to learning. Here are some reasons why it is important for educators to teach errorless learning to young early learning students: -Promotes success -Reduces frustration -Increases independence -Builds a strong foundation for future learning ERRORLESS ACTIVITY This is a great starter activity for the learner who is being introduced to the concept of grouping/sorting. Sorting is an early math skill and is a building block for future math learning. This activity is errorless which means there are no wrong answers and with success there will be lots of praise and reinforcement for a job well done! Errorless teaching is a great way to build excitement for a new skill. Sort identical cars by color This downloadable PDF is an educational activity that involves sorting identical cars by color. Here's an example of how you might carry out the activity sorting identical cars by color: -Gather materials: You will start with two large car color sorting cards Ex. one blue and one red and twelve smaller cards six identical red and six identical blue cars on them. -Introduce the activity : Show the learners the two large car color cards and explain that you will be sorting the smaller cards by color of the car. -Demonstrate the sorting process: Often times when I am introducing a new activity I will begin by sorting one or two of the cards myself, explaining what I am doing along the way. For example, "This card has a blue car on it, so it goes with the blue card." or "This card has a red car on it, so it goes with the red card. -reinforce learning: Once all of the learners have sorted their cards, review the activity as a group. Reinforce! By using hands-on activities like this, learners can develop their sorting skills while also improving their language, fine motor, and visual discrimination abilities. This is a grouping/sorting book where the learner will sort identical cars by color. The design is clean and simple with limited visual distraction so the learner can focus on just task. Sort/Group Non-Identical objects - early learner activity

The activity involves sorting and grouping different non-identical items, which can be used to develop cognitive skills such as categorization, visual discrimination, and problem-solving. To begin the activity , the learner is presented with a sorting picture. Pictures include in this activity : dog doughnut ice cream bar apple shoes chair butterfly hotdog car rabbit socks happy face The next step is to provide the learner with six corresponding sorting cards, each picture non identical to the sorting picture. The items on the sorting cards may vary in color, size, shape, and other attributes, which allows the learner to practice visual discrimination and identify key characteristics of each category. The learner's task is to sort/group each individual sorting card to the correct sorting picture. This requires the learner to analyze and compare the different items, and determine which picture they belong to based on their similarities and differences. As the learner progresses through the activity , they can be challenged to group the items in different ways, such as by color, size, shape, or texture. This encourages the learner to think creatively and develop flexible thinking skills. This early learning sorting activity provides an engaging and interactive way to develop cognitive skills and promote learning in a fun and playful manner. This activity is easy to create and is clean and clear of visual distractions which allows the learner to focus on the task at hand. First print and laminate all cards, then cut out the individual sorting cards and velcro to the corresponding picture activity mat. If have a coil binder you can coil bind this activity , or else you can three hole punch the mats and put them in a binder or use binding rings for many years of teaching and learning.
