Pre-Algebra: No Prep Evaluate Expression Input Output Game
Math, Algebra, Grade 5, 6, 7, 8, Activities, Games
Here's an easy, no-prep partner game for your unit on expressions, graphing, variables, tables, and patterns! How to Use: Simply project the expressions on the interactive whiteboard and students become an input output machine (speaking in a robotic voice is, of course, optional). They secretly choose an expression and calculate outputs for their partner's inputs. This is great mental math practice too! There are two levels of difficulty to help all of your students participate. Level one expressions are one step (adding, subtracting, OR multiplying). Level two expressions are two step (multiplying AND adding or multiplying AND subtracting). Teacher Instructions: o Project these tables on the interactive whiteboard. o Students work in pairs. o One member starts as the “expression machine.” They secretly choose an expression from either table. o Their partner tells them an input number. They put it into the expression and say what the output would be. o Play until the partner can guess what expression they chose. Then switch roles. Grades to use with: This fun math game could work well in classrooms with students in grades 5-8. It could be an introduction to algebra in the younger grades or a warm-up for older students. It could also be used in high school special education classrooms to introduce algebra concepts in a much more approachable way. What's Included: A one-page math game you can print or project. Standards: Grade 6 Expressions and Equations Write and read and evaluate expressions with variables. British Columbia, Canada: Learning Standard Grade 6 Math: Patterns, Expressions, Tables, and Graphs If you enjoy this game, check out some of my other interactive math activities: 5 Stations for Decimals and Percentages Powers of 10: Multiply and Divide: Worksheet and Kinaesthetic Lesson Idea Multiplying Binomials: FOIL Visual Math Lesson Assessment: Line Graph Real-Life Problem Hands-on Fraction Activity: Improper Fractions and Mixed Numbers

Egg Carton Artic, Speech Therapy Activities, Affricates, K and G Articulation
Special Resources, Speech Therapy, Not Grade Specific, Activities
YEAR-ROUND ARTICULATION! k articulation | g articulation | phonological process fronting | fronting | Kids will LOVE shaking the egg carton while targeting their /k/ and /g/ sounds! Over 60 target words for /k/ and /g/ in all word positions! Three different games/activities included. For articulation groups or individual therapy. Great for springtime but can be used all year long! ✏ DIRECTIONS FOR USE Three different games/activities included. For articulation groups or individual therapy. 1. Dice Word Drill Place a regular dice in your egg carton with your overlay affixed to the top. Have the student shake up the box and open it. Wherever the dice lands, the student must say the corresponding word however many times the dice says. For example, if the student shakes the box and the dice lands on five under the word “cake,” the student must say the word “cake” five times. •Student can use the Monitoring Card to check off the words they have already said and to rate their productions. •To use Sentence Strips with this activity , play as directed above except instead of saying the word only, they must say it in a sentence. 2. Word Match-Up Cut up the little “match-up” word squares and place one in your egg carton with the corresponding overlay affixed to the top. Have the student shake up the box and open it. The student is trying to make the little picture land in the space that matches with the same picture in the top overlay. If the little picture lands under a word that doesn’t match, the student must say that word and try again until they match. Once they get the right match, the student can use the Monitoring Card to check off the word. Repeat until all words have been matched. 3. Picture Search Cut up the little “match-up” word squares and place one in your egg carton with the corresponding overlay affixed to the top. Have the student shake up the box but do not open it. Use the sentence strips to guess where the picture will be. Have them ask, “Where is the ____?” “Is it under the ___?”. If they get it wrong, try again. If they guess right, use the sentence strip, “I found the ____!” ♥ I suggest printing on card stock and laminating. Use tape to affix overlay to egg carton. When printing, do not scale down image for best fit on egg carton. ♥ Each purchase of this product is for one professional user only. FULL CATALOG OF DOWNLOAD LINKS AND ENCYCLOPEDIA INDEX HERE Lesson Snapshot Title: Oxygen Genre: Nonfiction (informational text) Subject: Science (Chemistry / Earth & Life Science) + Reading Informational Text Primary Topic: Discovery, role, and uses of oxygen Estimated Guided Reading Level (A–Z): S What This Lesson Teaches Best How scientists in the 1770s noticed a “new gas” through clues like a candle flaring brighter and a mouse staying active longer than in ordinary air. How Lavoisier’s careful weighing helped show that “air” is made of parts, leading to naming oxygen and explaining burning and rusting as oxidation . How oxygen is invisible yet makes up about 21% of Earth’s atmosphere , and how bodies use it while breathing out carbon dioxide . How photosynthesis helps balance gases: leaves take in carbon dioxide and water, make sugar, and send oxygen back into the air. Where oxygen is found and how people use it (as O and often O₂ , in air and also “locked into” water/sand/rocks, used in hospitals , factories , and rockets ). Learning Goals Students will describe what Joseph Priestley did and what clues suggested the gas was different from ordinary air. Students will explain why Lavoisier weighed jars, metals, and air before and after heating them. Students will explain what the passage says oxidation helps explain. Students will describe the exchange between humans and plants involving oxygen and carbon dioxide. Students will identify at least two places oxygen can be found or used, based on the text. Key Vocabulary From the Text dephlogisticated — Priestley’s name for oxygen under an old fire theory. mercuric — related to mercury; part of “mercuric oxide” in the text. oxidation — a process that explains burning and rusting. atmosphere — the blanket of gases around Earth. photosynthesis — plants make sugar and send oxygen back into the air.
