This is an easy and fun activity to give students who need practice with recognizing the letter C sound from amongst other letter sounds or for those students who need extra practice distinguishing between the initial sounds in words. To complete this sorting activity , students will look at a picture on a crab to determine if the picture begins with the letter C or does not begin with the letter C, and then the students will place the crab on the correct beach mat. This sorting activity includes 3 pages that contains One beach mat for pictures that begin with the letter C One beach mat for pictures that do not begin with the letter C Crab pictures that begin with C Crab pictures that do not begin with C This beginning sound sort can be used in the following ways Literacy Center: The teacher can place this sort in a literacy center for students to complete.
