Trying to get your high school students interested in economics and recent history? Want to explain why Millennials and younger generations have a hard time ever getting ahead financially? Here's a ready-to-go lesson about supply side economics (also known as Trickle Down Economics or Reganomics). What's Included: This lesson has four parts in an easy to use 7 page PDF: First, students will tackle a 2-page reading comprehension passage about Trickle-Down Economics. This passage teaches the basic history behind this economic idea, what it is supposed to do, and what it has actually done. Ideas such as capitalism, Marxism, and progressive income taxes are included and explained. It is assumed that students have little to no experience with these topics. Next, students will learn new vocabulary by defining nine important terms including capitalism, profits, bourgeoisie, proletariat, progressive income taxes, capital gains tax, corporate taxes, and income inequality. Then, students will answer eight comprehension questions about the reading passage. This section encourages critical thinking, close reading, and analysis. Finally, students will write a one-paragraph reflection, where they can start to formulate their own personal opinions. A complete answer key is also included to eliminate any guesswork and make marking a snap. Grades to Use With: This lesson is designed for high school students in grades 9-12 in social studies, business , or economics classes. It could also be used in high school English classrooms as a non-fiction reading comprehension and vocabulary passage. Are your students tired? Do they struggle with morning fatigue, yet stay glued to their screens late into the night? It's the paradox of modern adolescence. This comprehensive, project-based learning (PBL) module transforms their struggle into a powerful scientific investigation. Turn Students into Scientists with This Hands-On Health Project! Instead of just telling students that "screens are bad for sleep," this resource empowers them to prove it to themselves. "The Screen Time & Sleep Experiment" is a rigorous, 4-week unit that guides students through an N-of-1 trial—a personal experiment where they are both the researcher and the subject! Students will learn the deep neurobiology behind sleep (melatonin, suprachiasmatic nucleus, ipRGCs) and then apply it by tracking their own data. They will use detailed logs to correlate evening screen time with critical metrics like Sleep Onset Latency (SOL) and Morning Energy Levels . This isn't just a worksheet; it's a journey of self-discovery that builds critical life skills. What's Included in This 36-Page Turnkey Resource? Part 1: The Empirical Approach to Sleep Hygiene (11 Pages): A detailed, student-facing guide explaining the science of circadian rhythms, melatonin suppression, photic vs. cognitive arousal, and intervention strategies. Part 2: Student Workbook (16 Pages): Features 10 detailed worksheets that guide students through every phase of their experiment—from establishing a baseline to tracking interventions (software filters, blue-light glasses), analyzing data, and creating a sustainable personal sleep protocol. Part 3: Visuals & Teacher Resources (9 Pages): Everything you need to facilitate the project with confidence. This section includes: High-resolution conceptual diagrams (flowcharts, scatter plots). A comprehensive, fill-in-the-blank Answer Key. A detailed Teacher Implementation Guide with a 4-week pacing plan, advice on navigating subjective data, and strategies for ensuring student privacy. Why This Project is a Game-Changer for Your Classroom: Relevant & Engaging: Tackles a real-world issue that directly impacts every student's daily life, health, and academic performance. Promotes Scientific Literacy: Students practice the scientific method, collect and analyze quantitative data, identify confounding variables, and distinguish correlation from causation. Cross-Curricular: Perfect for Health, Biology, AP Psychology, Human Anatomy & Physiology, and even Statistics classes. Builds Digital Citizenship & SEL: Encourages self-regulation, mindfulness about technology use, and empowers students to take control of their own well-being. Give your students the "aha!" moment they need to understand the invisible mechanics of their own biology. Equip them with the knowledge and skills to navigate the digital age in a healthy, productive way. Download this print-and-go resource today! Fosters Self-Responsibility: By using their own data, students see the direct consequences of their habits, leading to intrinsic motivation for change that is far more effective than parental nagging. Teaches Critical 21st-Century Skills: This goes beyond biology; it teaches data literacy, critical thinking, self-regulation, and how to create a healthy work-life-tech balance. US History "Colonial Foundations" Online Unit Access Unit 1, US History and Government This product consists of passcodes to a unit in most of my online US History classroom at InnovationAssessments.com . Give your students the passcodes to access the task at InnovationAssessments.com/TestDrive . All tasks, including short answer, are auto-corrected. The site's AI grading assistant has a high level of proficiency in scoring short answer tasks. The course is United States History and Government for the New York State Frameworks curriculum. This was taught to eleventh graders, but if your state teaches US history at other levels, the lessons would surely work for grades 7-12. Elements not included but posted separately: PowerPoint slide shows, stimulus-based multiple-choice, Regents exam-style short essay -- Look for these in my Teach Simple contributor site. When students have completed one of these tasks, the app yields a score and any other information you would need to assess their work (such as a copy of their short-answer responses). It's easy to have students take a screenshot of the results screen or to print out and submit to you. Some teachers just watch over students in class and record their results as they finish. Subscribers to Innovation Assessments can use the passcodes to import the task into their own course playlist and test question bank. This has some advantages over just the passcode access. Unit Opening 11.1 Pretest -- Pre- and post-tests are made from questions from old New York State US History Regents exams. 11.1 Vocabulary -- The vocabulary app has three functions: a "tutor", flashcards, and a quiz. Video Etudes An "Etude" is an app that displays media to the right and questions on the left. Questions can be multiple-choice or short answer. Students answer as they progress through the media and the answers are auto-corrected. An AI grading assistant offers assessments of any short answer responses which you can verify later. these are "video" etudes made from my own video lesson collection.
