ELA, Language Development, Phonics, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

The Antique Shop: Learn The Phonic Sounds que and gue (antique) This is a comprehensive resource that streamlines the process of teaching budding readers to master two-syllable words. This engaging journey through phonics is ideal for students aged 4 and above, those struggling with reading in the age group of 7 to 9, children facing learning difficulties or English language learners. These reading packs provide a structured guide aimed at incorporating 44 phonic sounds into the text. In the adventures of Sam, students get to search for hidden sounds within their reading material - an interesting challenge designed to engage even reluctant readers. Aim: By progressively building up these phonic sounds, children can ultimately read almost 80% of words used in English language. Phonics as a methodology emphasizes breaking down words into their fundamental sounds or syllables (pl-ay-ing), thereby fast-tracking progress. Inclusions: Stories such as 'The Bouncing Castle' and 'The Famous Cousin From The Country' serve as practice materials aimed at strengthening comprehension abilities of complex middle sounds. Upon completion, students will be better prepared for 'solo' reading books like Roald Dahl's George's Marvellous Medicine' and 'Fantastic Mr Fox'. Fringe Benefits:Cut-out practice pages allow learners match words with pictures and phrases with pictures – anchoring sound words firmly in student's memory bank. Resources can be selected according to individual student needs or follow a suggested order for complete non-readers. To extract maximum benefits, Select & introduce specified sound pack. Carefully read through sentences/stories multiple times while discussing related images. Match word lists against accompanying visuals; repeat until proficiency. Laying a solid foundation in phonics and reading becomes significantly easier with this tool in your teaching arsenal. Suitable for grades from Pre-K to Grade 2, with a primary focus on language arts and phonics, this PDF offers printable worksheets perfect for group instruction or independent practice.

Learn to Write Letters
ELA, Language Development, Phonics, Writing, Handwriting, Kindergarten, Preschool, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

This is a first, simple 'learn to write' book teaching letter formation linked to beginning sounds for young children. Learning to write and learning to read go hand in hand, and this book was designed to bring the two together right from the very start. Rather than practising letter shapes in isolation, each page anchors the letter to a picture and a sound, so the child is always connecting what they see, hear and write. Order and steps: Each page has a picture of something that begins with the sound to be practised. The child can colour the picture while thinking about the sound it begins with. The letter is then practised first in lower case, then in upper case, and finally alternating lower and upper case, so the child gets plenty of repetition without it feeling repetitive. Red dots indicate where each letter starts, and arrows show the direction of travel on the first letter of both the upper and lower case rows - useful for parents and teachers who want to be sure they are guiding the child correctly from the outset. Finally, each page finishes with a simple question, encouraging the child to think of other things that begin with that sound, and stretching their spoken vocabulary a little further each time. By teaching the letters alongside their letter sound, we make the learning of phonics truly multisensory - seeing, saying, and writing all working together to help the sound and shape stick. The book is sized perfectly for little hands, making it easy for young children to hold and manage independently as their confidence grows. What is included: 1 PDF. There is one page for each letter. Printing and paper Each page is A5 size. Print 2 pages per A4 sheet and either fold and staple (if you print as a booklet, flip on the short edge), or cut into 2 pages. More This book pairs well with our Handwriting Patterns book, which builds the pencil control needed before letter formation begins. More This book can be used alongside our Handwriting Patterns book , helping children to develop good pencil control.

OA: Phonics Workbook Reading Made Simple
Phonics, Language Development, ELA, Spelling, Kindergarten, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

Reading Made Simple — Free OA Phonics Workbook These little workbooks have been a quiet favourite with families using Reading Made Simple for some time now. Each one focuses on a single sound and prints on just one sheet of A4 paper — double-sided, folded in half to make a neat A5 booklet that children can hold and work through at their own pace. They are entirely optional. The phonics programme works perfectly well without them, but many parents and teachers find them a useful companion — either as structured practice or simply as a source of ideas to dip into when needed. Tested by real children: One 5-year-old user is quoted as having said, 'The worksheet is the best bit of my lessons!' Other parents have noted that their child likes the worksheet because 'they think it is easy'. When learning is broken down into small, achievable steps, with no curve balls to throw them off track, every child can say, 'I can read!' When I hear these reviews, I know that I have succeeded in my aim to write a phonics curriculum that can help children of all abilities learn to read and spell. These little workbooks are just one small part of what there is to offer. Please do check out the website for more information. Each workbook offers a gentle mix of activities built around the target sound. Children will read short passages that practise the new sound alongside words from sounds already taught, track and identify the sound within words to support both reading and spelling, practise spelling and sentence writing, and work through simple editing exercises where they spot and correct mistakes. These small editing tasks are particularly worthwhile — they encourage children to look carefully at words rather than guessing from context. The workbooks are particularly well-suited to younger children just beginning their phonics journey, and to older children with special educational needs who are still building their foundational reading and spelling skills. That said, they will not suit every child. Some will find them too long, others too straightforward. Use your own judgement — pick the activities that fit, leave the rest, or set them aside entirely. There is no obligation and no right or wrong way to use them. To print: print double-sided, flipping on the short edge. Fold in half to create your A5 booklet. The answer page at the back is optional. One sheet of paper. One sound. Everything a child needs to practise, consolidate and grow in confidence.
