Need a fun, engaging activity for practicing skip counting by 8 with your kiddos? This math bingo game is perfect for getting your students focused on skip counting in 8s! Preparation: Print and laminate enough Bingo Boards for each student to have one Optional: print, cut and laminate the Playing Squares Print, cut and laminate the Calling Cards. Lamination is optional, but recommended, as it will ensure that the game remains in good condition and can be used for many years to come! To avoid excessive printing and laminating, the Playing Squares could be replaced with other manipulatives such as buttons or counters. Alternatively, students could mark squares off on their Bingo Boards with dry erase markers and then simply clean the boards again after playing (provided that you have laminated the boards) How to Play: Each student needs a Bingo Board and at least 7 Playing Squares (or other manipulatives or a dry erase marker) Shuffle the Calling Cards and place them in a pile. Draw a Calling Card and call out and/or display the contents of the card. Each student looks on their Bingo Board for a block that matches the Calling Card. If they find one, they cover that block with a Playing Square. Draw a new Calling Card and repeat the process. The game continues until somebody wins. To win, a student must shout out “BINGO!” when they have covered three blocks in a row (horizontally, vertically or diagonally). If the Calling Cards run out before anybody wins, simply shuffle them again and continue playing. Please note: Sometimes there may be more than one block on the Bingo Board that matches the Calling Card. The student may only cover one block on a turn. Once that turn is over, the Playing Square may not be moved to cover a different block. This resource includes 5 different bingo board, in colour as well as black and white. Help take the frustration on of winning and losing games by helping students learn about good sportsmanship. Have students learn that there are good ways to win and good ways to lose as well as negative ways of winning and losing. What is Included: This activity includes an instructional page as well as thumbs up and thumbs down cards. There are also 8 clip cards with various scenarios around kids winning and losing games for students to determine who had a good response and who had a negative response. How to Use: One way to use this activity is to give each student a set of thumbs up and thumbs down cards. The teacher will read the scenario on the card and students will hold up a thumb card depending on if the child in the scenario did the right thing or the wrong thing. A second way to use this activity is to have the students use clips to mark the correct answer for each scenario. Older students who are able to read on their own will be able to complete the activity this way. When to Use: This activity makes a great whole class activity by having students all listen to the scenarios together and hold up the correct card. The teacher can then discuss with students why the student made a good choice or bad choice. The clip cards can be used during center rotations, morning work, or small groups. Learning this skill is important for students so that they understand the feelings of others and how their actions can affect other people's emotions. This activity is low prep. The cards just need to be printed and cut apart. Laminating the thumbs up and thumbs down cards will allow them to be used multiple times. The cards can easily be stored in a task box when not in use.

Mo Willems is the author of the Pigeon book series. The books contain large amounts of vocabulary designed for k-2nd graders. However, the pictures are so simple and adorable, they can be enjoyed by people of all ages. I adore this series so much that i have collected all of them despite that my son is almost 20 years old. As a result, I created the first of what I hope to be a series of reading comprehension and guided reading activity packs to make learning more fun for early elementary students as well as special education students and those with special needs in the areas of speech and communication. The book, "Don't Let the Pigeon Stay up Late," is required reading in order for students to complete all of the activities. It is available for purchase at Amazon and at Mo Willems own website. You can also find it at your local library to check out. Students will practice reading and learn about grammar, spelling, and increase vocabulary. Activities include: Open-ended questions, writing prompts, based on the text in the book. Snowdrops Picture to Make is a fun resource for students to complete as culmination of a science unit, to welcome spring, or simply to put into practice their fine motor skills! Additionally, it can be used for art class, or for the study of flowers, or simply to make a card to give away. Instructions for making a sweet picture of snowdrops are included along with what is needed: • Green card A5 size • Blue/darker green and white paper • A green felt tip pen • A glue stick • Scissors • White/green/yellow/blue paint • A piece of stiff card • A cotton wool ball This activity is suitable for Grade 1 (Y2) and upwards. A total of 11 steps are included in the instructions. This activity is best implemented in small groups where the teacher, assistant, or parent is readily available to step in and help students. Older students may be able to work independently. During completion: name the parts of the flower such as: petal, stem, seed-vessel, leaves. After completion: encourage students to name the parts of the flower while describing their own flower. Mount the picture on a piece of folded A4 card and pin it up. You could even make it into a card and give it to someone!

Here is a fun, print 'n play phonic game for the split digraph a-e! Help your pupils to grasp the tricky split digraph concept as they play! Who is the a-e game suitable for? All learners of phonics, including young children, SEN/special needs, ESL etc... Aims and Objectives Some children, when starting to learn about the long /a-e/ sound will start to make every /a/ into a long /a-e/ sound. While this is common among all children, some children need more help to overcome this difficulty. Therefore, this game has two aims: 1.To help children to be able to hear the long vowel sound a-e in words 2.To help children understand that some words have a short /a/ and some have a long /a-e/; the child must listen to hear which word has which - not guess. How to play: This is a game for two ore three players, one of which should be an adult. The game can be played with either pictures or sounds. Each player takes a game board (either pictures or sounds) which will indicate whether the player should listen for words with a short /a/ sound or a long /a-e/ sound. The adult reads a word on the word card, and the pupils must listen for 'e' or no 'e'? If the pupil has the sound/ picture on his/her board, she/he covers up a space. the winner fills hi/her board first. Teaching tips: Help children to hear the vowel sound by emphasizing it and stretching it out. Help the child to do this as well. Have fun - as this eases children over those tricky spots! Need a fun, engaging activity for practicing skip counting by 8 with your kiddos? This math bingo game is perfect for getting your students focused on skip counting in 8s! Preparation: Print and laminate enough Bingo Boards for each student to have one Optional: print, cut and laminate the Playing Squares Print, cut and laminate the Calling Cards. Lamination is optional, but recommended, as it will ensure that the game remains in good condition and can be used for many years to come! To avoid excessive printing and laminating, the Playing Squares could be replaced with other manipulatives such as buttons or counters. Alternatively, students could mark squares off on their Bingo Boards with dry erase markers and then simply clean the boards again after playing (provided that you have laminated the boards) How to Play: Each student needs a Bingo Board and at least 7 Playing Squares (or other manipulatives or a dry erase marker) Shuffle the Calling Cards and place them in a pile. Draw a Calling Card and call out and/or display the contents of the card. Each student looks on their Bingo Board for a block that matches the Calling Card. If they find one, they cover that block with a Playing Square. Draw a new Calling Card and repeat the process. The game continues until somebody wins. To win, a student must shout out “BINGO!” when they have covered three blocks in a row (horizontally, vertically or diagonally). If the Calling Cards run out before anybody wins, simply shuffle them again and continue playing. Please note: Sometimes there may be more than one block on the Bingo Board that matches the Calling Card. The student may only cover one block on a turn. Once that turn is over, the Playing Square may not be moved to cover a different block. This resource includes 5 different bingo board, in colour as well as black and white.
