Tally Marks Game – Learning to Count with a Soccer Twist

Tally Marks Game – Learning to Count with a Soccer Twist
Montessori, Math, Numbers, Early Math, Counting, Algebra, Decimals, Science, STEM, Special Resources, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Activities, Games, Worksheets & Printables, Task Cards, Quizzes and Tests, Teacher Tools, Quizzes, Projects, Flashcards

Tally Marks Game – Learning to Count with a Soccer Twist Similar to Dobble / Spot it! A hands-on matching game for grades 1–6 (PDF – Dobble / Spot It! style) ⚽📊 This resource is a playful way to help students practice tally marks while staying active and engaged. The game is based on the popular “Find the Twin” concept (similar to Dobble or Spot It!) and helps children recognize and count tally lines quickly and confidently. Each card shows six symbols – including different tally mark patterns – and players have to find the matching pair between any two cards. The game encourages concentration, quick visual comparison, and number recognition, all while reinforcing how tally marks work. What’s included: 93 cards total → 3 full sets with 31 cards each 3 versions: → round cards → cut-friendly square cards → hexagonal cards All with clear, child-friendly visuals Instructions for flexible classroom use How I’ve used it in class: I like to use this game in small math stations or as a warm-up activity. It’s also a favorite for early finishers or during quieter times when a bit of movement and interaction is helpful. You can laminate the cards for long-term use, or simply print them on heavier paper. The game works in pairs or small groups – and students pick up the rules quickly. Beyond basic counting, the game helps introduce how we group numbers for clarity, which is a useful step toward early data handling and bar graphs. And the sporty theme adds just the right amount of energy. Print, cut, and play – no prep needed, and lots of learning packed into a simple activity. Warm regards, Lernfitness Did You Know? Math, Fractions, Grade 4, 5, Centers, Activities

If you are teaching your students about equivalent fractions, check out this ready-to-print set of 5 math stations to enhance your unit! I believe that using a variety of instructional methodologies is a great way to reach more students. These centers allow students to try different activities and work cooperatively with their peers, all while practicing their equivalent fraction math skills. The first stop includes four word problems for you students to try. You can put out whiteboards for them to use instead of scrap paper. Next they get to play a dice game (with 6-sided dice). They practice drawing equivalent fractions. After that, students get to solve a riddle by matching equivalent fractions. The fourth station includes financial literacy: students calculate sale prices using fractions that are equivalent. Finally, the last station has students share their ideas about math clearly in words and visuals as they answer a math journal prompt. This product comes with an answer key too! Grades to Use With: These stations are designed for students in grades 4 and 5 who are strengthening their understanding of equivalent fractions (in preparation for learning to add and subtract fractions in particular). They could be used in middle school special education classes as well. Ways to Use: I often use stations like these before a math unit test. I split the class into 5 groups and have them start at different stations. They can either rotate every 15-20 minutes, or work at their own pace. If you find math stations useful, I have others available in my store: Multiples and Factors Place Value from Hundred Millions to Millionths Concepts for Early Algebra: Tables, Graphs, and Expressions Geometry: Perimeter, Area, Volume for Shapes with Right Angles Rates and Ratios Integers: Addition and Subtraction Geometry of Triangles: Types, Area, and Angles Probability and Statistics for Grades 5-7 Fractions, Decimals, and Percentages

Math, Graphing, Grade 7, Activities

One, Many, No Triangles CARD SORT ACTIVITY : An innovative teaching resource specially tailored for 7th-grade mathematics teachers to boost student comprehension and participation. This math activity accentuates the Geometry Standard – the building of triangles from predetermined sets of conditions whilst analyzing possibilities of creating a unique or multiple triangles or none at all using given angle or side measures. The Activity : Students will receive 16 cards displaying diverse measurements - some exhibiting three side lengths while others depicting three angle measures. Using knowledge of the Triangle Angle Sum and Inequality Theorems, they are tasked to determine whether a card can lead to 'One Unique Triangle', 'Many Triangles' or 'No Triangle'. Introduction to Slope NOTES & PRACTICE

Introduction to Slope NOTES & PRACTICE
Math, Algebra, Grade 8, Activities

This resource was developed to partially meet the requirements of the 8th Grade Functions Standards below, with primary focus on SLOPE/RATE OF CHANGE: CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.8.F.A.2 Compare properties of two functions each represented in a different way (algebraically, graphically, numerically in tables, or by verbal descriptions). For example, given a linear function represented by a table of values and a linear function represented by an algebraic expression, determine which function has the greater rate of change. CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.8.F.B.4 Construct a function to model a linear relationship between two quantities. Determine the rate of changeand initial value of the function from a description of a relationship or from two (x, y) values, including reading these from a table or from a graph. Interpret the rate of change and initial value of a linear function in terms of the situation it models, and in terms of its graph or a table of values.
