By carrying out activities like these, our students will strengthen their muscles and will be able to learn to hold the pencil correctly as well as achieve the necessary and appropriate dexterity to form their first numbers and letters. -They will stimulate your cognition: Graphomotor skills will motivate you to make connections between fine motor actions and the brain. So these activities will make children plan and think about their movements, which will also have the benefit of developing their attention and memory. -Develop visual-spatial perception: It will contribute to the development of this skill, which consists of the perception and understanding of the relationship between objects in space. 3.Order, scheme and stages - Introduce your class with relaxing music, then distribute 1 set of activities per child. That is, this material will be applied individually per child, or per student. Plus, this activity is easy and quick to do so your students won't take long. 4.Grades or ages This game is designed for children ages 5 to 6. 5. Form of application You must print this color in A4 format, and in color. Make sure that they have good quality and especially black ink in your printer, so that the lines to be drawn come out well and appear clear so that your children do not have difficulties when drawing. 6. Here are five phonic games to help in the teaching of consonant blends. Many children struggle with consonant blends, but these games can help take the stress out of learning! All children like a game- not least for the one to one time with an adult! How to use The games are easy to make and easy to play, needing no other equipment than in some cases a feely bag/little box in which to put cards. Simply print out the pages needed for each game and play - print and play. To make the games last longer, I suggest laminating the boards and the picture/letter cards as appropriate. What is included? Game 1: Match each blend to the picture that begins with it. Game 2: Cut up the word cards and take it in turns to find the consonant blend missing letter cards - either of an initial or final blend. Game 3: Find the missing letter of an initial blend Game 4: Find the initial blend for each word card Game 5: Read and match the CVCC word with a short vowel sound to the picture Who are these games for? Children of all abilities will love these games . They have been tried and tested on many children. They were devised by a teacher with many years of experience in teaching children of all abilities to read and spell with phonics. They are best played one-to-one with an adult so that the adult can model sounding out and reading words with a consonant blend. Once a child is more confident, two children can be asked to play together while an adult supervises. As the children play these games , the sie teacher will observe the reading and spelling strategies being used by the child to ensure that the child is noy learning to guess. Phonic games help to take the stress out of learning so they are great for pupils with special needs (including those with dyslexia) who need that bit of extra practice.

Number Roads 0–10—Tracing and Parking Activities with Cars I use these number rods a lot in my class, especially when children are just starting to learn numbers. It feels less like a worksheet and more like a small activity. Each number is designed like a road. The children can trace it with their finger or a pencil, or they can drive a small toy car along the path. Most of them truly enjoy that. The set includes the numbers from 0 to 10. The structure is always the same, so the children quickly understand what to do and can work more independently after a short time. There are also parking pages included. After tracing, the children can park cars. For example, they take as many cars as the number shows. Some children also like to add one car after each round of tracing. That works quite well to connect tracing and counting. You don’t need many extra materials. If you don’t have toy cars, you can just use the car templates that are included. I usually laminate the pages and use dry erase markers so we can use them again. Included: Number roads from 0 to 10. Color version Black and white version Simple car templates parking pages short instructions I use it for: centers individual work small groups or just as a quick start to a lesson It works well for children who require clear and simple tasks. The pages all look similar, so they don’t need a lot of explanation. The main focus is on: Getting to know numbers practicing how to write them improving fine motor skills connecting numbers and quantities Some children only trace at first. Others start counting right away. Both work, so it’s easy to adjust without changing anything. The black and white version is helpful if you want it more simple or if the children want to color the roads. It’s a simple material, but I use it regularly because it works in many situations and doesn’t need much preparation.

This rhyming sort is a great hands on activity for recognizing words that end with "all." This is an easy and fun activity to give students who need practice with identifying rhyming words. Students will sort pictures that rhyme with the word ball using this sports themed rhyming activity. How to Use: To complete this sorting activity, students will look at a picture on a basketball to determine if the picture rhymes with the ball or does not rhyme with ball, and then the students will place the basketball on the correct hoop mat. This Guided Reading Book - Snow, Sleet, and Hail (Level H) includes: Guided Reading Color Label (front cover x1) This is a quick way to match the book’s demands to what students can generally handle.. The overall goal is to use the level/color to pick books for several smaller groups. To qualify for a certain level, a student is expected to read a book from that level with about 90–94% accuracy. If a student is consistently accurate and understands, move up a level. If the student is struggling at that level, drop down and add more support. Each student will improve at completely different rates, but it is generally one of the best ways to check progress across the class. DOWNLOAD THE CATALOG TO VIEW ALL GUIDED READING BOOKS AVAILABLE (SORTED LEVELS A-Z) Pre-Reading Question (x1) Teacher asks the prompt aloud, can be while showing the cover or first page. Students share what they already know, or make educated guesses from the cover. Prompt them to use the target vocabulary. Write some of their responses on the board to look back at during the reading. Vocabulary Words (x5) Introduce the five words, best doing it one at a time. Start by saying it, while students repeat and then see if anyone knows what it means before reading further. Read through the meaning and try to briefly connect each word to a picture or gesture so it’s meaningful. Ask students to flip through the book pages and point to where they see each of the vocabulary words. While reading the book pause upon coming across one of the vocab words or read the sentence twice to make sure students understand the word has appeared. Optional: Ask students to raise hands whenever they see/hear one of the new words. Guided Reading Pages (x10) Check the book snapshot (below) for: primary topic - do you need to prep extra reading or intro materials on this? what is taught best - decide on 1-2 bullets to focus on, use the prompt or words provided here for best results. learning goals - what you are checking for students to be able to do after the session, elicit answers using prompts or words provided. key vocabulary (see section above). questions overview - so you know what is coming up and if you need to prep extra materials to assist understanding. Run the lesson You may have already looked at a few of the pages together, but you can show them some of the pictures again first to set meaning. Depending on how much time you have and how familiar your students are with guided reading class, you may want to read the book aloud first with the group first. Students whisper or partner read, while you listen in. If time, do it as a group, one student reading a page each. Use the guided page’s prompts to coach: “Check the picture / does it make sense?” “Point under the words / try the first sound” “Reread the sentence smoothly”. Try to focus more on one student per session (rotating every time), so you can work out if they are ready to move up or need to move down a level. Comprehension Questions (back cover x3) This is your way to check that students didn’t just say the words, but actually understood the text. First, let students answer by pointing to the page/picture and saying a short sentence. After any answer, follow with: “Show me where you found that in the text.” In bigger groups, have partners answer first (10–20 seconds), then call on 2–3 students to share.
