Many of our students love learning in a variety of ways and music is one of those! We can retain information better when we hear it through songs and visual videos. This is one reason we like to incorporate music in our learning environments. We don’t have to limit music to music class only for our students. In my store, you’ll find a wide array of music resources that students will love to learn from. This is a music video for your math students in kindergarten and 1st grade. The title of this song is “Looking for a Ten.” This is a song and video that will have students learn about addition. This video provides explanations and many examples to support student learning. You can implement this video at the introduction of teaching this math skill. The objective is for students to correctly identify parts of an addition problem that make ten. This would be a song that I play multiple times for my students across the course of this unit. It is an MP4 file, so you can download it and have the option of embedding it into any slideshow you may be using for instruction. I hope you enjoy!

Need an activity for practicing number bonds that will be fun and engaging? These no-prep, self checking cut and paste math puzzles are great for helping students to focus on addition as they do number bonds for number 28. Preparation: Just print and go! There are 2 pages for each number – The main worksheet and a page with puzzle pieces that need to be cut out and pasted on the worksheet. Each student will need a copy of both pages. There is also a “Back of Puzzle Pieces” page. This needs to be printed on the reverse side of all puzzle pieces pages. There are 2 printing options – colour or black and white You can also mix and match the colour and black and white pages. For example, you could print only the puzzle pieces in colour and the worksheet in black and white if you wish. These worksheets are great for: Homework Centers Extra work for early finishers Extra practice for students struggling with Number Sense How Students Use These Worksheets: Students cut out the puzzle pieces and place the pieces with the pictures facing down, so that the numbers on the back are visible. Next they need to look at the worksheet. There are sums in the blocks that need to be completed. They must find the pieces that match the sums and paste the pieces on the correct squares, with the numbers facing downwards and the picture facing upwards. Slope Race Partner Activity

This is a Slope Race Partner Activity . This activity will give your students practice with finding slope and it requires them to use their expressive and receptive language skills to share information with a partner. There are 4 problems for students to complete. Step One: Break your class up into pairs. (I like to partner students who have more mastery over slope with students who are struggling.) Hand out blank race packets to the students and explain to them that they will need to work as a team to win the race. Step Two: Once the first team finishes, check their answers but encourage the other teams to keep going for 2nd and 3rd place. You could also vary this activity by setting a timer and having students race against the clock. The first team that finishes with correct answers before the time ends are the winners. This makes a great review activity at the end of the math unit . An answer key is included. I hope you enjoy! Carpet Time Songs: 5 Little Speckled Frogs Support your students’ learning with this 5 Little Speckled Frogs Carpet Time Song. This resource was specifically designed to increase engagement amongst your little learners through the enjoyment of music and song. What You Get: A 13-page printable PDF complete with everything you need to complete this activity. How to Use the 5 Little Speckled Frogs Carpet Time Song: This fun frog song (rhyme, poem) for carpet time is one of my students’ favorites! It works great for a camping, forest, woods, animals, or back to school thematic unit. This is a great activity for teaching students to take away and to recognize numbers to 5. A black and white version is included so that students can create their own 5 little speckled frogs to sing about. I have included large class sized frogs to put on the board or into the middle of the carpet, small frogs and a small log that you could put on popsicle sticks or magnets for a whole class or center activity, and individual student cards so that they can have five frogs in front of them as you are singing the song as a class. To Prep: Print, cut, and laminate the frogs of your choice and instructions. To Play: Set frogs out in the middle of the carpet or place them on a whiteboard with magnets attached. Five little speckled frogs Sat on a speckled log Eating some most delicious bugs YUM! YUM! One jumped into the pool Where it was nice and cool. Now there were four green speckled frogs. GLUB! GLUB! Continue until all the frogs are gone. I ask students to hold up the number of fingers that matches how many frogs we have after each round. You can also write it on the whiteboard if you are using the frogs on magnets! I hope you enjoy!!

To begin the activity, the learner is presented with two sorting cards each featuring an image of a specific type of bug, such as a ladybug and a butterfly. The learner is then given 12 cards, each of which features an image of a ladybug or a butterfly, but with some slight differences between them and asked to sort or group them by insect. This activity can be made more difficult by asking the learner to sort bees and wasps or beetles and cockroaches - Yes, I said cockroaches. YUCK. - however they do elicit a response of gross and giggles from many. Keeping it fun!
