I created this 20-page Animal Word Unscramble packet as an interesting yet productive activity that actually has the effect of keeping children focused and quiet. As with all of my students who love animals, it was crucial that I used actual photos in place of clip art to make sure my visual learners and ESL students would relate more to the activities. Here's why it's effective: I have made these pages double-sided in order to reduce the amount of paper being used. On each side there are two puzzles that allow the child to look at an image of the animal, then scramble some letters which they must solve in order to correctly spell and write the word on the provided lines. Use them like this: Morning Work: These are my favourite "grab and go" sheets that work great at the start of the day. Early Finishers: Have a folder of this ready for your students who complete their assignments ahead of time. * Laminated Centers: Don’t want to waste paper? Just laminate several copies and have students write directly on them using dry-erase markers. * Sub Plans: Substitute teachers will love how simple and intuitive these sheets are; they are self-explanatory as the illustrations are like an answer key to the questions kids might ask you. What you’ll get: Included is a PDF document consisting of 20 printable pages. This makes for 40 unique animal picture puzzle sheets in total. Each page features a realistic image, letter boxes for decoding, and a line for handwriting.

This is a Busy Learning to Read Activity Packet. There are 8 pages included in this set. The first 6 pages include the reading sentences. The last 2 pages include the pictures for students to cut out. These pictures are printed in color. Each page is focused on its own set of 3 sentences. Students will reach each sentence 3 times for fluency practice. Then students will use their cut out pictures to place the pictures in correct order. These pictures will represent the sentences they just read. At the bottom of the page, students will trace the spelling words. Here are the sentences included: Page 1: The boy is happy. He is holding the ball. The ball is big. Page 2: The girl is excited. She has a surprise in the box. It's a puppy. Page 3: The baby is crying. He is hungry. He wants mom to give him his bottle. The concept of nonfiction can be very abstract, making it difficult to teach the concept. These worksheets look at the nonfiction text features; captions and labels. Within these worksheets are two activities that are designed to help students understand the concept of captions and labels. This download includes a printable worksheet with two activities one of the activities has two variations, a printable checklist with a checklist for individual students and for the class and finally an answer sheet with answers to the activities. The objectives of these worksheets is to deepen the understanding of exactly what a caption is and how to label illustrations. The first activity contains pictures that students are prompted to give a brief caption for, the second activity has two different various that the teacher can choose from,the first variation is illustrations that students need to label using a word bank and the second variation is the same illustration however allows for students to cut and paste the labels. These activities are great for grade 1,2 and 3 and can be used as an introduction, recap, support or enrichment. Simply print the activity and hand out to students. The words in this set follow a CVC or CCVC spelling pattern.
