Numbers 1-10 - Play Dough Mats and Recipe

The play dough mats are suitable for preschool, 1st grade beginners, special education, and also for use at home to promote numbers, quantities, and motor skills. They provide children with a playful and creative way to learn digits and quantities. The mats are ideal for number stations, learning trays, or independent work. You will receive several mats for molding numbers up to 10. Each mat has the same task: -The children shape the digit with play dough. -The children mold and place the corresponding quantity as apples on the apple tree as an unstructured quantity. -The children mold and place balls in the corresponding number on the ten frame. -The children match picture cards with the corresponding finger image to the respective play dough mat. These can be fixed with a play dough ball on the mat. For differentiation, finger images with one hand (numbers up to 5) and two hands (numbers up to 10) are available. It is best to laminate and cut out the cards. The cards can be attached to the play dough mats with a play dough ball. -The children write the number with a dry-erase marker on the number sequence. Each task type is visualized with symbols so that the students do not need reading skills to complete the tasks. For differentiation, there are two versions of the play dough mats for each number: 1)Number to trace and predetermined quantities of apples on the tree. 2)Number must be written freely, and the quantities for the apple tree must be counted independently. Tip: The two versions (easy and difficult) can be printed double-sided (duplex printing) for differentiation of the individual numbers. If you only want one version, select "odd pages" (Version 1) or "even pages" (Version 2) to print from page 7 onwards. To prevent the play dough from leaving marks on the paper, the copy template should be laminated or placed in a plastic sleeve. Introducing just 10 words in each phonics family, the words are repeated from book to book, giving even those with very poor word recall the chance to learn to read fluently without having to decode every word. Ideal for dyslexics, or those suspected of being dyslexic and all children with a special need. The books cover these sounds and must be taught in this order: CK; OO; SH; CH; ND/NT; NK; TH; NG; AR; OR; A-E; I-E, O-R, U-E, AI, EA, OA, IGH Rationale: It has long been proven that teaching children to decode is a powerful tool for teaching reading, as opposed to the Look and Say method. However, this has led to a proliferation of reading books that throw as many words with a shared phonics sound into a book as possible, not realising that some children with very poor word recall find it hard to recognise words when they see them again without much repetition. To combat this problem, while we recognise that, technically, once a child has been taught a new sound s/he can sound out many words with that new sound, when it comes to reading fluently a child needs a core set of words in each family that they can recognise, which can act as a launch pad as they gain confidence. These books have been designed accordingly. For each sound family, just 10 words are studied with the help of the workbooks and are then repeated throughout the books, each book building on the vocabulary that has already been learned, repeating it and including it in new phrases as new sounds are learned. As the programme progresses, new sounds from the learned families are incorporated to widen vocabulary, while taking care to maintain fluency. The books are designed to limit guessing (though most children will try and guess, which must be avoided at all costs). Aligned with the aims and objectives of LETRS and the Science of Reading. They work! My pupils tell me if they don't work, so I re-edit them and try them before I put them out for the general public. Introduces most high-frequency words in the phonics family to which they belong, and gradually introduces genuine, non-decodable sight words into the text without causing overload or throwing the child off course. This fully editable Lab Station Activity on the Periodic Table is meant to get your students out of their seats and engaged in the content. Each station not only offers a unique opportunity to test your students' knowledge (offer an opinion, answer questions based on a video or reading, draw, etc.), but also provides a fantastic learning opportunity where your kids are learning through assessment. Each station comes with a description card while some also contain more detailed instructions, a reading, questions to answer, etc. Students are equipped with a recording sheet (passport) to write their answers. There is almost no prep for you. Simply print the cards, lay them out around the room and you're all set. An answer key is also provided where applicable. This lab activity covers: - The Periodic Table - The History behind its creation ---------------------------------------------- Bonus Activities: To ensure your students don’t have any downtime between stations, your lab also includes a 10-word word scramble and word search, both with an answer key. You can use them as part of their mark, as a bonus so it’s not mandatory, etc. However you choose to use it, it will ensure that your students are always busy and never idle.
