Children need to learn mathematics in the most playful way possible so that they change their perception of it, which is why it is the task of educational agents to look for the most didactic ways or methods possible to make mathematics a fun subject. It is sometimes very tedious to give our children the classic worksheets to fill out the answers for addition and for them to simply spend minutes upon minutes filling out answers, so on this occasion I present another solution or different way of doing sums, and it is through from "COUNT AN CLIP". It is a fun and more educational activity, children will be able to manipulate the cards. 1. Title of the pedagogical resource: "Exercises to find the answers to addition exercises with results up to 20, with the theme of animals" 2. Topic to work on: "Additions with answers up to 20" 3. Area of knowledge where it should be applied: This pedagogical resource could be applied in the area of teaching mathematics for children. 4. Number of pages contained: This educational resource contains 24 fabulous and colorful pages, ready to be printed in A4 format. 5. Is it available in color or white/black? This educational sheet is available in colors, so that it is much more fun for children. 6. What version is it available in? This document is available in A4, PDF format. 7. Editable/Not Editable: It is not editable. 8. A pack of 18 AI worksheets with a variety of exercises to help build phonemic awareness and reading fluency. These sheets are LETRS and UK GOV requirements aligned. Who are these worksheets for? I have written them for pupils who struggle with processing information - especially sounds. This includes children who are DYSLEXIC or have ANY other kind of processing disorder. Such children may have failed with other methods of teaching phonics. Such pupils need activities that: ·are highly structured - one tiny step at a time building on the one before using only a limited number of words to start with and only using words that the child has already learnt to sound out, with no nasty surprises. ·Have only a little on each pageas these pupils tire easily. What makes these worksheets special? I have a powerful three-step process which I use with my special needs pupils, which is worked out over the course of the 18 worksheets: 1. See it!where we focus on becoming aware of the new sound in words. This involves first hearing the new sound in words and then seeing it in words (tracking). 2. Sound-it-out!Having learnt to see the new sound in words, we learn to sound out these words to read and write them. We begin by usingsound-it-out boxesfor reading and spelling which help the child to segment the word prior to blending the sounds together. Once the child can read and write individual words, we work on fluency by building familiarity with the common words in the new sound family. Once the child can sound the words out to read and spell confidently, we move on to recognising them/using them in longer reading and dictation passages, as soon as the child is able. I provide 2 reading passages with comprehension exercises and one dictation passage, with a page in the workbook dedicated to it, with room for a picture, which again cements understanding. 3. Write it! Incorporated into the above two steps, we constantly write the new sound. This adds a multi-sensory dimension to our work - we see with our eyes, we sound it with our mouth parts and voice, and then we move by writing. All three steps work together to help the child feel in control of his/her learning and to become a successful, confident learner. We finish each sound with a dictation which culminates our work before we move on to the next sound. I try to give the dictation a week after we finish the work on the EA sound to act as revision. The dictation: Read this passage to your pupil, who should write it. Have the child read his/her work and check for errors. Make sure the writing is completely accurate before saying the child has finished, including full stops and capital letters correctly used. Flashcards are included of some common AI words. Playing the Game After the front slide the game begins. First rounds are easier with less pictures. Later rounds are harder with up to 9 pictures at the end. Teams will take it in turns to answer. Gameplay Taking round 1 as an example. Three pictures are shown. After 10-15 seconds they will disappear. Students are to try and follow at least one of these pictures. Click the go button to begin. The three pictures will mix between themselves and end in a different position. Team A goes first. Anybody in the team can answer. Say the number and then the word. Click on the card to see if the answer is correct - 1 point per correct answer. After Team A have answered. Offer the chance for Team B and subsequently C, D etc in order. to answer. Attempt to get all of the cards answered before moving on. Click on the arrow to continue to round 2 . If you ever need to replay a round, you can press the refresh button on the left side. As the game goes on, you may want to change the rules by allocating 2 words for each team to follow with bonus points if they can answer any other words. With a variety of difficulties and short A/long A words, this is the ideal review game. Press the = button for the answer and the original photo with word will appear. Press the arrow button to move onto the next question. 6 questions in total. Second game is a memory game. Starting with three pictures and ending up with six, students have ten seconds to observe the pictures on the screen, then need to say the words they remember. The picture page will automatically move on after ten seconds but if you wish to move on yourself quicker then there is an arrow button. In the answer screen, answers will flash if correct, dim if incorrect. Finally game is more like a question and answer, but in two parts. In the part, there will be a clue and 3-6 words to choose from. Press the correct answer. In the second section you will get the reverse, one word and then two to three clues to choose from. Short A: Riddle Time Sample Game Note: This download is in PowerPoint show mode to protect the rights of the image creator(s), and is thus UNEDITABLE. Playing the Game The question slide will begin with a clue and the amount of points available for guessing the correct word with this clue alone. Students can write/say their answers. Clicking the curved arrow on the right will make the next clue appear. This will have a lower points value but gives another clue for students to guess the word on. Again, press the curved arrow for the final clue. This is pretty much a a give away ie. you put this on your head, so students win at least five points on each round. Press the arrow for the answer. A pic will also appear but immediately become semi-transparent so you can still see the clues underneath if you wish to go through them. Press the square in the bottom right corner to go to the next page. Will be harder for early learners due to the amount of reading so you may have to read it out and help with some meanings. About the Full Game (available in the ppt game links section below) Practice reading key short A words and clues with this game. Words come up clearly so are easy to read, you may want to ask students to spell the word before revealing it. Teachers have complete control over the length of each slide as clues comes out one-by-one. This is a phonics AR game to help children, especially those with special needs, read words with the digraph 'AR'. Who can use this AR game? Any who need to use the digraph ar! But it is especially for those with special needs: games can take the pressure out of learning to read, especially for those who have become despondent or are reluctant for any reason. They are fun and take the child's mind off of the tedium, and winning is not dependent on their ability to read - it is the 'way the game goes'. What can it be used for? Why not send it home for homework? It can be used as a discrete form of assessment: is the pupil using knowledge of letter sounds , or GUESSING, which will lead to failure? What is included in the pack? Full instructions are given. The game comes in both black and white and colour versions. Children can be encouraged to colour the black-and-white version, and this will help the words in the 'ar' family to be established firmly in the child's mind. There are 3 boards with matching picture/word cards in both black and white and colour. Aim of the game: To help children to be able to sound out, or recognise, words with ‘ar’ in them, quickly. How to prepare the game: Choose either black and white or coloured. The children can colour the black and white boards, which will help to fix the words together in their minds as being in the same family. The game boards come in pairs: For each pair, choose one to be a board and cut the other up into individual picture/word cards. If only two people are playing, then they can choose which sets of pictures and cards they use. How to play: This is a game for two or three players. The teacher should watch if two children are playing together. Each player takes a game board. The matching letter/picture cards are scattered on the table face down. Players take it in turns to choose a card from the table. The child looks to see if s/he has the matching word or picture on his/her board. If so, the card is placed in position on the board. If not, it is returned to the pool on the table. The winner is the first person to complete his/her board. Teaching tips: Support children to sound words out/blend them as needed.
