In this 24-playing card SEL Boom Deck, students will play the rock, paper, scissors game and practice sharing their feelings! If playing for a whole class lesson, 2 students come up to the Smartboard or projector and one is person A and the other is person B. Person A touches the disappearing question mark above A to reveal either a rock, paper, or scissors image. Person B does the same. Then the winner of the rock, paper, scissors card game will share a time they felt the feeling below the winning card (either A or B). Students can also act out the feeling as well. The winner then drags and drops the feeling onto the stage where the image will disappear. The person who lost the game will stay at the board until they also get a turn. You can play this as a whole class, center activity, or with partners-it is up to you! The directions are for a whole classroom lesson but you can tweak it to work for your class and your lesson planning. Objectives: ·to help the child to distinguish between the sounds ‘m’ and ‘n’. ·To help the child to hear the sounds ‘n’ and ‘m’ in the initial position in words. Who can use the 'm' or 'n' Game? Any who have a child needing extra practice learning the initial sounds 'm' and 'n'. Teachers Parents Home educators Private tutors It is highly suitable for special educational needs pupils It can be used with ESL pupils What is included? 12 picture cards (6 of each initial sounds 'm' and 'n') - or 2 baseboards 12 letter cards (6 of each initial sounds 'm' and 'n') - or 2 baseboards 2 star cards All components come in either full colour of black and white. The eco print, black and white version is ideal for sending home for homework. The game can be played in two ways using either the letters or pictures as baseboards. Simple to make 1.Print out one copy of each chosen board, either letters or pictures. 2. Cut out the chosen individual cards. To Play: 1. Each player takes a baseboard. Vary it each time so that the players get a turn with both sounds. 2. Take it in turns to choose a picture card. Say the word. What sound does it start with? Help the child to emphasise the initial sound if necessary. Let him/her look in a mirror to see whether the lips start together for ‘m’ or apart for ‘n’. If the picture belongs on the player’s board it is placed in position. If not it is returned face down. Encourage the other player to try and remember where it is for his/her next turn. This helps in the training of the memory. 3. Play passes to the other player who does the same - until one player completes his/her board. Play then ends and that player is the winner. 4. Add excitement to the game with the use of the star card, which if selected means the player misses a turn.

This Mesozoic creatures memory game is the perfect complement to a Dinosaur or Paleontology Unit Study. It will help your students memorize and review a few dinosaurs in a fun way. How to Use This Resource: Cut apart all the cards. Then lightly glue each back to a front. Run through a laminator and then cut apart each pieces. Lay pieces flat and upside down. Take turns with your students to turn over 2 at a time. When you find a match, you get to keep the match. When all the cards have been turned over and matched up, then the game is over. The winner is the one who has found the most matches. Not only do these cards feature pictures of Mesozoic creatures, but they also have the corresponding word printed underneath each picture. They will get to work their brains to try and remember where they saw a certain image, but they will also be able to retrieve where they saw a certain word. To play, students will need one gameboard, one die, 20 objects to mark the inner part of the game board, and a game piece for each student playing.
