Long I: Three Review Games Sample Game Note: This download is in PowerPoint show mode to protect the rights of the image creator(s), and is thus UNEDITABLE. Playing the Game Three games. In the first game, one picture will slowly appear (20 seconds long). Press the cookie in the bottom-left to begin, press again to reveal the answer. Press the arrow in the bottom-right to change to the next page. There are 9 questions in total Second game is similar but there will be two pictures appearing at the same time. Press the donut in the bottom-left to begin. The pictures will appear on the clock, press the pink clock button next to the picture that corresponds to the word at the top. Wrong answer will buzz, correct answer will make a noise and both pictures will be fully revealed. Press arrow in the bottom-right to change page. 4 questions in total. Last game will review the words from the previous game. Word is at the top, four pictures below, choose the correct picture for the word. Incorrect answers will dim out, correct answer will flash. Again, arrow in the bottom-right for the next question. 8 questions in total. About the Full Game (available in the ppt game links section below) This mix of long I phonics games will give students a perfect way to practice key long I words. Race to the Top Interactive Game

This is a Race to the Top PowerPoint Activity. This allows you to turn any worksheet into a game ! This is for any subject and any grade level. The goal of this game for students is to be the first to reach the top of the mountain. To do this, students must advance their team up the mountain by working sections of problems correctly. Once each team finishes a section of questions, they can check in with the teacher. If everyone is correct, that team will roll to find out which rule to play by. If incorrect, they will need to find and fix their mistakes before they check in again. Directions to Teacher Before Game : On “Race to the Top” slide, edit the box in top left corner to show the problems you want students to complete. The vertical gray bars in the textbook group problems into sections. Edit textboxes next to each rule to suit your preferences (or use the default rules). Edit “ Game Rules” slide to suit your preferences. Show this to students before starting the game . To Run the Game : Put PowerPoint in presentation mode. After a team finishes a section correctly, have them roll a dice to see which rule they get. Then follow the directions for that rule (if the rule involves a dice roll, have them roll again). To make a rule show up, click on the Rule textbox. Click on it again to make the rule disappear. Sometimes it’s advantageous for the teacher to select which Rule teams play by for a given amount of time (5-10 minutes). To speed the game up, use Rules 6. To slow the game down, use Rule 5. To catch last place teams up, use Rules 2 or 3. To advance a team up the mountain, click on their dots (starting at the bottom and working your way up). If you make a mistake and click too many dots, simply click the dot again and it will revert to white. Essentially, clicking once adds color; clicking on the same dot again removes the color. Beware: once you exit presentation mode, all PowerPoint animations will be reset. I hope you enjoy! This letter W beginning sound game is an interactive way for students to work on words that begin with the letter W. This alphabet game provides students with a fun and engaging way to practice on the initial sound of the letter W. This game focuses on the most common sound of the initial /w/ sound. What is Included: One gameboard in color One gameboard in black and white What do you need to play: One of the gameboards A die Something to mark the inner spaces with A player piece to move around the edge of the board This game can be a single player game or a two player game. To play, each student will need one gameboard, one die, 20 objects to mark the inner part of the game board, and a game piece for each student playing. First, a student will roll the die and move his game piece around the outside of the gameboard. The student will then cover the corresponding picture in the middle of the gameboard. The winner or end of game can be determined by one of the following rules below, depending on if the student is playing alone or with a partner. Long and Short A: Follow the Vocab Sample Game Note: This download is in PowerPoint show mode to protect the rights of the image creator(s), and is thus UNEDITABLE. Playing the Game After the front slide the game begins. First rounds are easier with less pictures. Later rounds are harder with up to 9 pictures at the end. Teams will take it in turns to answer. Gameplay Taking round 1 as an example. Three pictures are shown. After 10-15 seconds they will disappear. Students are to try and follow at least one of these pictures. Click the go button to begin. The three pictures will mix between themselves and end in a different position. Team A goes first. Anybody in the team can answer. Say the number and then the word. Click on the card to see if the answer is correct - 1 point per correct answer. After Team A have answered. Offer the chance for Team B and subsequently C, D etc in order. to answer. Attempt to get all of the cards answered before moving on. Click on the arrow to continue to round 2 . If you ever need to replay a round, you can press the refresh button on the left side. As the game goes on, you may want to change the rules by allocating 2 words for each team to follow with bonus points if they can answer any other words. About the Full Game (available in the ppt game links section below) If you want an exciting way to practice letter A phonics words, this is the game for you. With a variety of difficulties and short A/long A words, this is the ideal review game. Many students will be able to get involved in each round and with ten rounds, the whole class will enjoy themselves while practicing phonics at the same time. 21 slides. 10 rounds. Short and Long A practice - question prompted by pictures. Short A words used: cap, hat, bag, man, dad, ham, map, can, bat, pan, mat, tag, sad, jam, cat, fan. Dolch Sight Word Cards - Level PP

This is a set of Dolch Sight Words Cards, Level PP. What You Get: This is a 3-page printable with a total of 40 word cards and a "Level PP" cover card. Use these sight word cards as practice or review for your students reading at a primer level. Directions 1. Print, laminate, and cut the cards out. Note: These cards do have colored borders, so if you prefer black and white, please make adjustments in your printer settings. 2. If desired, punch a hole in the corner of each card and place on a ring clip. Memory Game Another way to use the cards is to print two sets of the cards to create a memory game. 1. Have students sort two sets of the cards in even rows, turned over so no words are showing. 2. Each child takes a turn turning over two cards. When two of the same sight word cards are turned over, the child reads the word and keeps the pair. The child who found a pair keeps playing until no pair is found. When no pair is found, turn both cards back over and the other child takes a turn. 3. Continue until all matches have been found. I hope you enjoy! Playing the Game The question slide will begin with a clue and the amount of points available for guessing the correct word with this clue alone. Students can write/say their answers. Clicking the curved arrow on the right will make the next clue appear. This will have a lower points value but gives another clue for students to guess the word on. Again, press the curved arrow for the final clue. This is pretty much a a give away ie. you put this on your head, so students win at least five points on each round. Press the arrow for the answer. A pic will also appear but immediately become semi-transparent so you can still see the clues underneath if you wish to go through them. Press the square in the bottom right corner to go to the next page. Will be harder for early learners due to the amount of reading so you may have to read it out and help with some meanings. About the Game Practice reading key short A words and clues with this game. Words come up clearly so are easy to read, you may want to ask students to spell the word before revealing it. Teachers have complete control over the length of each slide as clues comes out one-by-one. This is a Let's Talk About Spring English / ESL Boardgame. All you have to do is print this game board and grab a pair of dice. The game board can be printed in color or black and white. This simple game board is great for your English-speaking students and your ESL students who are building their language skills in the English language. Students can work in pairs or groups of 3-4. You can also pull students in a small group with you to better assess their progress and mastery. These board games are great because they come in a variety of themes and topics, so students will be able to increase their vocabulary. You can choose to do a few different activities when you use these board games : 1. Students can take turns rolling the dice. They will move that many places on the board. Whatever space they land on, they can read the question out loud and answer it verbally with their partner or group. 2. Same as number 1, but the partner can answer the question instead of the person who rolled the dice. 3. Same as number 1, but both partners (or everybody in the group) can write their answer down on paper. 4. Same as number 1, but students can practice writing down the question and their individual answer to the question. What is Included: One gameboard in color One gameboard in black and white What do you need to play: One of the gameboards A die Something to mark the inner spaces with A player piece to move around the edge of the board This game can be a single player game or a two player game. To play, each student will need one gameboard, one die, 20 objects to mark the inner part of the game board, and a game piece for each student playing. First, a student will roll the die and move his game piece around the outside of the gameboard. The student will then cover the corresponding picture in the middle of the gameboard. The winner or end of game can be determined by one of the following rules below, depending on if the student is playing alone or with a partner. Long and Short E: Quiz Game Sample Game Note: This download is in PowerPoint show mode to protect the rights of the image creator(s), and is thus UNEDITABLE. Playing the Game Note 1: Upon opening you will come across a password prompt. Press 'read only'. Note 2: You may need to allow ActiveX controls to use the scoreboard. The game starts will the front screen. Press the arrow in the bottom right to move onto round 1 - short E. There are ten questions in each round, click on one of these buttons to go to that question. There are a mix of options and marks available. Click on the correct answer. Incorrect answers will go dim. Correct answers will flash, all the incorrect answers will dim, small picture will appear. At this point if you are using the scoreboard, click on scores. You can edit any of the boxes and don't need to leave slideshow to edit it - the team names and scores. Simply input using keyboard. You can't save this to use another time in the future but you can use it for as long as the PPT is open. From there you can go to Round 1 or 2 by clicking on the buttons at the bottom. Upon returning to the question screen, any questions already answered will be blank (ie. no text) so you can keep track of those answered. Once you finish round 1 the button for round 2 is on the round 1 question board or alternatively from the scoreboard. With a round dedicated to both short and long E, students will practice reading phonics words while enjoying themselves at the same time. Letter-sound association – Connecting letters to its sounds. Vocabulary building – Introducing words that start with each letter. Phonemic awareness – Listening for letter sounds in words, rhyming, or segmenting sounds.
