It is an easy activity to use in the classroom, in small groups, or at home. The set includes 12 colors and 24 matching pairs in 2 different versions , so you can choose the one that works best for your students or use both for extra practice. The colorful little characters make the game more engaging for young children, while the simple card design keeps the focus on the vocabulary. This gravy reading comprehension contains the following: Pre-Reading Trivia Students will write down one thing they already know about the subject and then read five more facts and discuss. These facts are fun, and the students will enjoy learning about the subject before reading more. Reading Passage The text is a high-interest reading passage with set paragraphs, roughly three to four paragraphs long. It contains a variety of themes about the topic, anywhere from history to technology. The passage is between 250 and 350 words in length. Mixed Questions The first question page contains four multiple-choice questions, each with a choice of four answers, and three written response questions that require a sentence or two from the student. Creative Writing In this question, the student will be required to write a five to eight sentence paragraph on a question related to the topic. Extension Activities This page is optional for fast finishers. If there are five to ten minutes left at the end of the lesson, the student can choose one of three activities, each one requiring a different skill. Answer Key There are answers for the multiple-choice questions and three written response questions have sample answers. Students will learn about historical events such as the Space Race, the Cold War, the Berlin Wall, and the work of artist Keith Haring, who used artistic expression to advocate for social justice. Using the novel as a guide, students will analyze concepts such as theme, symbolism, elements of plot, character analysis, and more, then represent their understandings of these concepts through art. In addition, students become engineers as they design a method to dig through mountains to create sturdy and leak-proof tunnels; learn about simple machines in order to design and build a transportation system that can carry a load of dirt and rocks; and design and build a structure that will hold weight without collapsing. A Fall Play: The Tale of Johnny Appleseed is a play written with 25 parts for students in 1st-3rd grades. A Teaching Guide (11 pages in all) is designed to offer suggestions to utilize the play to the fullest extent, maximizing learning for students in and out of school. It's the perfect addition to your regular or special education, ESL, or Gifted/Talented curriculum and works well for homeschoolers, homework, summer enrichment, or after-school drama programs. Play Summary: What do the woodland animals (the rabbit, fox, birds, deer, snake, and bear cubs) know about how apple trees came to grow all over the countryside? A pioneer family, Native American Indians, and the trees also share important facts about Johnny Appleseed’s life. No wonder the well-known tale continues to be passed on. Children love animals and will delight in playing one either in a Readers' Theater or during an actual play production. How much fun is it to create an animal costume and to be an animal for the day! What is Included: One gameboard in color One gameboard in black and white What do you need to play: One of the gameboards A die Something to mark the inner spaces with A player piece to move around the edge of the board This game can be a single player game or a two player game. To play, each student will need one gameboard, one die, 20 objects to mark the inner part of the game board, and a game piece for each student playing. First, a student will roll the die and move his game piece around the outside of the gameboard. The student will then cover the corresponding picture in the middle of the gameboard. The winner or end of game can be determined by one of the following rules below, depending on if the student is playing alone or with a partner.
