This document can be applied in teaching children's reading and writing. 7. Should I apply it individually or in groups in my class? Longtime fans have been asking us to make this long vowel resource for a while, and we have finally decided to take the plunge. It turned out to be a pretty awesome resource. First off, use the PDF based digital file to introduce these long vowel sounds to your students. You just open the file and show it full screen. Then use the arrow keys to go from one page to another. This way you can also stop the slideshow if something is too difficult for your students. After this, you can give them the digital multiple choice test. The correct answer will be circled in green and the incorrect ones are red. This makes it abundantly clear what the right answer is. But there are a bunch of printable files as well. How about the vocab lists en tests? And then there are the flash cards too, either with round or with sharp corners. All and all, a very complete resource to practice long vowel sounds.

These letter A reading rings are great for students learning the beginning sound of the letter A. These reading rings give students simple sentences to introduce them to reading in the format of "A is for ____." These reading rings are suitable for preschool and kindergarten students who are learning the initial sound of the letter A. Phonic Spelling Programme Level 1 Ages 7+

This is a Phonic spelling programme. Not only will it teach a child to spell, but also to write. Just add a good handwriting programme. The spelling programme can be used with all ages from 5 to 99, however, if used with a young learner I strongly advise using the programme to teach both reading and spelling at the same time. See the website for more information and resources to teach young children. The spelling programme can be used: with children who have learnt to read, but need a spelling/writing programme with children who have tried another phonic programme and not made much progress with reading and/or spelling/writing with a special needs child who needs a very structured approach to learning by home educators by parents wishing to help their child at home About the programme The programme is very flexible and can be made to fit the child, rather than the child to fit the programme. Being highly structured, each new lesson builds on the one before, constantly revising the previously taught material The spelling programme will take 41 weeks to teach. One new sound is taught each week. What is included? The teacher's manual with full lesson plans and helpful teaching tips A list of the keywords for each lesson with the phonic sound highlighted - for practice and revision 39 spelling worksheets The Reading Made Simple Phonic flashcards The Odd Word flashcards About the worksheets The worksheets use time-honoured exercises to help pupils to become familiar with the new sound and revise previously taught ones. They include such exercises as tracking the new sound in words, proofreading as well as comprehension questions. Children generally find them fun because they are so easy due to the way learning is structured throughout the programme. Consonant Blends Words and Pictures Cards

This is a pack of 32 flashcards for words with a consonant blend and a short vowel sound with no more than four sounds. The pack contains words with both an initial and a final blend. Introduction: I made these cards to send home with my pupils for extra practice sounding out these consonant blends words with their parents. They provide a cheap-to-print, effective way to get maximum practice at this vital, foundational reading skill. Order, outline and steps: Simply print and cut up the cards into 32 word cards, a 32 picture cards. Start by having the child sound out the words: lay picture cards face up on the table and stack the word cards in a pile, face up. Take a word card, sound it out to read it. Find the matching picture card and lay them both aside together. Once the pupil gains confidence, games can be made: Turn the above activity into a game by placing ten word cards in a pile face down between the players, and laying the matching pictures face down on the table. The players then take it in turns to select a word card and turn over a picture card. If they match, the player can keep the matching cards. If not, the word card is returned to the bottom of the pile and the picture placed face down on the table once more. The word cards chosen can be selected to give the child practice where needed, either with initial, or final blends or a mixture of both. Who are the flashcards for? Allow students to independently practice blending and reading WH words with these digraph Word Read and Reveal Cards! Teachers will love the independent nature of these cards! The self-correcting feature on the cards allow students to check their reading. What is Included: There are 12 digraph WH words included in this packet. Included in the packet are illustrated directions on how to put the cards together. How to Use: Students will get a card for the pile. Students will practice reading the word on the card, using the dots and arrows as a finger guide to reading the word. Once they feel confident that they know the word they read, they will open the card to reveal a picture of the word they read. When to Use: Literacy Center - Students can work independently or with a partner to read these WH words Morning Tub or Basket - The cards can be placed in a morning bin for students to work on as students arrive to class. Small Group Activity - The teacher can choose a small group of students or a specific group of words for students to work on in a small group setting with the teacher. The fact that the teacher can easily choose which words to include inside a center or activity, allows the teacher to easily differentiate this activity for her students. Each book has a matching PowerPoint, making it suitable for various settings. This book tells the story of Caligula's attempt to conquer Britain. The Jack Stories, of which this book is one, introduce one phonics sound at a time, and subsequent books build on the vocabulary of the books before, constantly revising and reviewing learned sounds. What makes this phonics reading programme for special needs different? · It has its own, easy-to-download and print phonics reading books, making it accessible to many children worldwide. · Each book carefully builds on the vocabulary of those that have gone before, providing much repetition, without relying on predictable text. · Pictures aid the storyline without encouraging reading from the pictures – i.e. guessing. · The vocabulary is based on phonics families, which are introduced in a carefully planned way. · True sight words – those that cannot be sounded out - are kept to a minimum. Most words are introduced in their phonic family wherever possible. · It is truly multisensory, using the power of the hand. We not only look at the words, but we write them too. This is powerful and has the bonus of turning the child not only into a reader but into a writer as well. Typical signs that this programme can help: Those with dyslexia, or suspected of having dyslexia Difficulty recalling words when seen on flashcards or when reading texts, which results in no or little reading fluency b/d letter reversal of a chronic nature – i.e. the child has not grown out of it Difficulty ordering letters in words: E.g. top becomes pot. Difficulty differentiating between like words: spoon/soon; back/black; sheep/sleep etc… Difficulty tracking words across a page How long is the book? The reading book is 16 pages long.
