Fantasy World Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
Fantasy World Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this fantasy world vocabulary puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our creative writing unit. The kids loved dragons and magic but had no idea what words like fantasy, enchanted, or quest meant when we talked about fantasy stories. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like fantasy, enchanted, quest, dragon, castle, sword, magic, kingdom, hero, and wizard. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the fantasy vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a quest is a journey or a mission. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple castle, dragon, and magic wand drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write a short fantasy story using three words from the puzzle on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

African Culture Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this African culture vocabulary puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our social studies and cultural unit. For the culture terms, I drew on resources that highlighted concepts like Ubuntu (the idea of interconnectedness) and practices like scarification and ceremonial objects like the nkisi power figure and the Oba (king of Benin), although I kept it simple for this age group . I also pulled a few Swahili words like Jambo (hello) and Kwaheri (goodbye) because they're fun for the kids to learn . Variables and Expressions word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
Variables and Expressions word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this variables and expressions puzzle set for my 5th graders during our algebra unit. The kids could solve problems with numbers but got confused when letters showed up in math. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like variable, letter, symbol, unknown, expression, term, coefficient, constant, operation, plus, minus, times, divided by, evaluate, and substitute. Examples include x + 5, 3y - 2, 4n, and a/2. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the algebra vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether 2x means 2 times x or the number 2x. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple x and question mark drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 5th through 6th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write an expression for "a number plus 7" on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Interjections word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
Interjections word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this interjections puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our grammar unit. The kids used words like "wow" and "oops" all the time but had no idea that these exclamation words had a special name. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like wow, oops, oh, ah, hey, whoa, yikes, ouch, hooray, bravo, alas, uh-oh, eww, aha, phew, shh, whew, and yay. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the interjection list finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether "well" (as in "Well, I don't know") counts as an interjection. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple exclamation point and surprised face drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write a sentence with an interjection on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Camouflage in Animals word search, scramble and crossword
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
Camouflage in Animals word search, scramble and crossword ⭐I made this camouflage puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our animal adaptations unit. The kids loved watching videos of animals hiding in plain sight but got bored when I asked them to write definitions. So I threw together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like camouflage, predator, prey, hide, blend, mimicry, disguise, pattern, and survive. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to keep them thinking without complaining. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search is good for quiet time after lunch. The scramble gets them talking because they argue over how to spell "mimicry." The crossword I save for partners. I added a couple simple leaf and bug drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I ask early finishers to draw a tiny hidden animal on the back and write one sentence about how it hides. The kids actually enjoy these.
