Preschool and kindergarten students will have fun practicing phonological awareness skills by identifying the beginning sounds and ending sounds in words with these phonics matching cards. What is Included: In this phonics card set, there are 24 total cards, available in both color and black and white. Each set of cards makes 12 pairs of words with the same beginning sounds and ending sounds. Ways to Use: Concentration or Memory Game : Students will start the game by having all of the cards face down. Each student will take turns turning over 2 cards. If both the beginning sound and ending sound of both cards match, then the student keeps the pair. If they do not, then the student puts them back face down. The student with the most correct pairs wins. Find a Partner: The teacher starts by giving each student one of the picture cards. The students then look around at the cards the other students have to see if it matches their beginning sound and their ending sound. Once they find their match, then they found their partner. Students can simply work together to match the cards with the same beginning sound and ending sound. This letter I beginning sound game is an interactive way for students to work on words that begin with the letter I. This alphabet game provides students with a fun way to practice on the initial sound of the letter I. The game focuses on the short sound of the letter I. What do you need to play: * One of the gameboards * A die * Something to mark the inner spaces with * A player piece to move around the edge of the board This game can be a single player or a two player game. To play, students will need one gameboard, one die, 20 objects to mark the inner part of the game board, and a game piece for each student playing. First, a student will roll the die and move his game piece around the outside of the board. The student will then cover the corresponding picture in the middle of the game board. The winner or end of game can be determined by one of the following rules below, depending on if the student is playing alone or with a partner. This is a set of Dolch Sight Words Cards, Level PP. What You Get: This is a 3-page printable with a total of 40 word cards and a "Level PP" cover card. Use these sight word cards as practice or review for your students reading at a primer level. Directions 1. Print, laminate, and cut the cards out. Note: These cards do have colored borders, so if you prefer black and white, please make adjustments in your printer settings. 2. If desired, punch a hole in the corner of each card and place on a ring clip. Memory Game Another way to use the cards is to print two sets of the cards to create a memory game. 1. Have students sort two sets of the cards in even rows, turned over so no words are showing. 2. Each child takes a turn turning over two cards. When two of the same sight word cards are turned over, the child reads the word and keeps the pair. The child who found a pair keeps playing until no pair is found. When no pair is found, turn both cards back over and the other child takes a turn. 3. Continue until all matches have been found. I hope you enjoy! Here is a fun, print 'n play phonic game for the split digraph a-e! Help your pupils to grasp the tricky split digraph concept as they play! Who is the a-e game suitable for? All learners of phonics, including young children, SEN/special needs, ESL etc... Aims and Objectives Some children, when starting to learn about the long /a-e/ sound, will start to make every /a/ into a long /a-e/ sound. While this is common among all children, some children need more help to overcome this difficulty. Therefore, this game has two aims: 1.To help children to be able to hear the long vowel sound a-e in words 2.To help children understand that some words have a short /a/ and some have a long /a-e/; the child must listen to hear which word has which - not guess. How to play: This is a game for two or three players, one of whom should be an adult. The game can be played with either pictures or sounds. Each player takes a game board (either pictures or sounds) which will indicate whether the player should listen for words with a short /a/ sound or a long /a-e/ sound. The adult reads a word on the word card, and the pupils must listen for 'e' or no 'e'? If the pupil has the sound/ picture on his/her board, she/he covers up a space. the winner fills hi/her board first. Teaching tips: Help children to hear the vowel sound by emphasising it and stretching it out. Help the child to do this as well. Have fun - as this eases children over those tricky spots! Playing the Game After the first page, there is a quick intro to the game. After this the first train sequence will begin. There will be some winter scene outside along with seven letter I words. This is automated and will move onto the question page automatically. On the question page you will have four options, choose the select button for the right answer. If you wish to watch the animation again, you can click the back button. After the correct answer has flashed, press next and the next train animation will start. Questions vary in difficulty so you may need to play the animation more than once. Product Description Word Family Dice Activity for middle sound a is a fun way for young children to learn onset and rhymes using word families in phonics lessons, literacy lessons, and literacy centers. This play-based games help children cement their phonological learning and is best use to develop reading skills, honing pencil skills, developing correct letter formation skills as well as encoding and decoding skills. Directions for use: To prepare the activity , print the dice templates and worksheets you wish to use. Build the dice using scissors and glue sticks (optional double-sided tape for durability) before handing them out to the children. The reading and writing worksheets are best used when laminated for durability and reuse. Make multiple copies for large groups and classes. To use the resources, hand out the reading mat worksheet and the dice that matches the color tab on the worksheet. Then find and circle the word on the worksheet. Once the kids finish with one set of dice and mat, have them pick another set. For the writing worksheet, roll any colored dice, read and write the word into its correct table.
