There are 20 questions that ask students to use order of operations to solve a problem. There are only positive integers used. Parentheses are included, however there are no exponents just yet. If the answer is correct, part of a Winter Games pixel art image is revealed. If the answer is incorrect, the image does not reveal and students should check their work. This beginning sound sort is a great hands on activity for recognizing the most common sound of each letter of the alphabet. This is an easy and fun activity to give students who need practice with recognizing the beginning sound of each letter from amongst other letter sounds or for those students who need extra practice distinguishing between the initial sounds in words. To complete this sorting activity , students will look at the pictures inside the fireworks and place the firework onto the correct night time letter mat according to that picture's beginning sound. This sorting activity includes 33 pages that contains There are 26 night time mats for each letter of the alphabet. Each mat features both the capital and lowercase form of each letter of the alphabet, There are 3 fireworks for each letter of the alphabet. Each picture represents the most common beginning sound for that letter. This beginning sound sort can be used in the following ways Literacy centers Fine motor centers File folder activity Add magnets to the picture cards for a baking tray activity Small group activities Morning work Emergency sub plans If making a file folder game, the teacher will place one mat on either side of the folder and use hook and loop fasteners to sort the firework pictures.
