Math & problem solving
Four line-symmetry worksheets of increasing difficulty move grade 4-6 students from finding symmetry to designing with it, all on numbered 20-by-20 grids. Practice 1 presents six shapes whose lines of symmetry students draw — one shape has none, two have one line, two have two, and one hides a diagonal. Practice 2 shows half of a large shape beside the vertical line of symmetry at x = 10, and students copy the dots and lines across it to complete the figure. Practice 3 turns the task social: each student draws a symmetry line and starts a simple design, then trades with a friend to finish each other's shapes. Practice 4 closes with a coloured grid design that must include vertically and horizontally symmetrical parts, and an answer key rounds out the set.
