Periodic Table Elements Domino Game – Christmas Chemistry Activity During the last week before winter break, I like to keep my lessons calm but still connected to content. This chemistry domino game has worked well in that context. It gives students a chance to revisit the periodic table in a light way, without feeling like they’re doing a full review worksheet. The game is made up of cards that show either the name of an element or its chemical symbol. Students connect the matching parts, so that the end of one card links to the start of the next, just like with a regular domino set. I included all 118 elements, from Hydrogen to Oganesson, so there’s enough variety for most grade levels. Depending on the group, I sometimes let them use a periodic table as support. In other classes, we turn it into more of a memory challenge. Some students take it seriously and try to build the longest chain, others enjoy working in pairs or small groups just to go over what they remember. The cards have a light seasonal theme, which fits well with December lessons. They can be printed on heavier paper, and I usually store them in envelopes or folders by element groups if I want to use them again the next year. No extra materials are needed beyond scissors and maybe a bit of tape or a surface to build on. The setup doesn’t take long, and the atmosphere is usually relaxed. Students still talk about chemistry, especially when they help each other with tricky symbols. It works well in classes where energy is low but you still want them engaged in something subject-related. All the cards and a short set of instructions are included. I’ve used it in different grade levels, and it’s easy to adjust depending on time and ability. Reindeer Counting to 10 Clip Cards

Students will have fun counting up to 10 and practicing fine motor skills with these reindeer themed counting clip cards. These cards allow students to get ample practice counting to 10 with the colorful and fun images centered around reindeer. Students will want to complete these cards again and again. What is Included: There is one reindeer themed clip card for each number 1 through 10. Each clip card includes colorful and bright images to keep students engaged in counting. How to Use: Students will take a clip card. They will count the number of objects, and then place a clip or other manipulative on the current number of objects counted. When to Use: Math Center - These clip cards can be used in a math center by simply placing the cards and clips inside each center . Students can work independently or with a partner to complete these cards. Morning Activity - These cards can be placed inside a morning tub or basket for students to work on as classmates arrive to class. Quiet Activity - These clip cards make a great quiet time activity for students who do not nap. Small Group Activity - Teachers can pull aside small groups of students to practice working on counting. These clip cards are a low prep activity for teachers to prepare for students. They just need to be printed and cut apart before students can use them. These cards can be stored inside a task box which allows for easy set up, clean up, and storage. The added fine motor component makes these a perfect activity for students to work on their counting skills as well as improving their hand strength by squeezing the clips used to mark each answer. Christmas Number Domino – Match Numbers and Number Words (0–30) I like using this Christmas number domino set when we need something calm but still meaningful in the weeks before winter break. Students match numbers with the written number words and gradually build one long domino chain together. The set focuses on numbers from 0 to 30. Each card shows a numeral on one side and the matching number word on the other. Students connect the cards by finding the correct matches, which also practices number recognition and reading at the same time. There are two versions included. One uses regular number words. The second version shows the words with syllable markings. I created this for students who still need help decoding longer number words or benefit from visual reading support. To make it easier to adapt, there are optional end cards for different ranges. You can limit the activity to 0–10, 0–20, or use the full 0–30 set. I usually start with a smaller range and add more cards once students feel confident. I’ve used this during math centers, for partner work, and also as a quiet early finisher activity. It works well because the structure is clear and students can play without much explanation. The domino cards can be printed on regular paper or on colored paper if you want to keep sets separate. I normally laminate them so they last for several seasons. Blank cards are included in case you want to add your own numbers or adjust the set. 67 Meme Winter Order of Operations Pixel Art

If your kids just won’t stop talking about “67,” you might as well find a use for it. This winter-themed pixel art math center involving the order of operations takes the 67 fixation and turns it into something even better than just solving for 67: something the kids will really care to see the answer to. The concept is easy and fun. Students can complete twenty order of operations problems, which involve the use of parentheses but no exponentials. This is just the activity for reinforcing the concept. A correct answer reveals the next piece of a hidden winter scene. As the image develops, the characteristic number 67 is exposed in winter colors. This assignment is completely digital and automatically Self-Checking. Students get immediate feedback this way. If the student puts an incorrect answer down, the image will not reveal their mistake and will encourage the student to look at what they have done and try again. Your assignment will teach the student to not ask how their work looks or whether or not something is right. For an element of flexibility, printable versions have been included too. These same twenty problems can be accessed as a worksheet, so assigning these to be completed as homework is easy. There is also a complete set of math problem cards that are printable. These math problem cards are excellent to be used when engaging in math centers or scoot. Whatever way of teaching you choose to utilize, whether digital, physically, or a combination of these, this resource will go smoothly. There is also a complete answer key. This activity is particularly well-suited for December and January, when students' attention and motivational levels may be low. This activity is engaging for note-taking, organized for review days, and safe to keep on hand for emergency substitute teaching. Also, because everything is already established, little to no prep is required. Just pass out the link, and students can dive right in. No locks need to be set up, no clues need to be placed, and no sign-ins to a website are necessary. Everything happens entirely on line. Skills taught are evaluating multi-step expressions, using the order of operations when there are parentheses, and learning to compute precisely in a low-stakes, high-interest manner.
