Some of the middle school scenario examples are; someone asks you to drink alcohol, someone asks you to vape, someone dared you to take something out of someone else's backpack, someone asked you to spread a rumor about someone else, someone dared you to steal something from the cafeteria for their lunch, and many more. You can use these battle brackets for whole-class voting and discussion or with small groups. It is up to you. There are detailed instructions in this product. For student engagement, you can use these discussion questions. 1. Has anyone used this peer pressure strategy? 2. Are there certain situations to use this strategy? 3. When would this strategy? 4. Have you ever tried this strategy and how did it work? 5. Have you ever used one of these strategies and it did not work? What happened? 6. Why is it helpful to learn some of these strategies before something happens? This is a great supplement to any drug and substance use curriculum or health curriculum. Calm students with SEL: BAT Mindfulness Breathing Activities. This resource teaches students how to quiet their minds and bodies using the trace and breathe technique. Students trace shapes printed on the pages with their fingers while taking deep breaths. The engaging Halloween and fall themed pictures give students something fun to focus on. Teachers can use this individually with students or as a whole class activity . It works well as a transition tool after high-energy times like recess or assemblies. Students can pick picture designs that appeal to them like animals, foods, vehicles, or spring themes. The different choices make it more meaningful. Teachers can also use this technique by creating a classroom calm down station. A binder with the trace and breathe pages gives students structured support to practice mindfulness. This develops emotional skills and self-regulation.
