This Coordinate Plane Lesson - Tables, Graph Points, Predictions is a ready to use 28 page PowerPoint lesson for teaching students how to represent real world and mathematical problems in the coordinate plane. You will see hard to find real world problems using the coordinate plane. Students will complete tables given a coordinate plane graph and graph points given a table. Students will also be given conceptual (word) problems and asked to use that information to complete a table or to graph points in the coordinate plane. Next students will make a prediction for a new data point based on the table and its given graph or a conceptual problem. Students will also be asked to interpret coordinate values of a point based on the information from the table and graph or a conceptual situation. During the lesson students will also be introduced to a graph break (sqiggly line). At the end of this Coordinate Plane Lesson - Tables, Graph Points, Predictions lesson is a four question practice quiz for students to show their understanding of the skills learned. This is a 5th grade lesson and corresponds to the Common Core Math Standards of 5.G.1 and 5.G.2. Answer keys are included throughout the lesson as needed. This product covers the 2016 Virginia (VA) Standards of Learning (SOL) 3.13: The student will identify and describe congruent and noncongruent figures. This product will also provide some extension for the 2023 VA SOL 3.MG .4 The student will identify, describe, classify, compare, combine, and subdivide polygons. It contains notes pages on the meaning of the word congruent, what qualities make two or more shapes congruent and what qualities do not. There are practice pages for each topic, with an answer key included. The notes pages come in two sizes. The first size is a full-page size. You can print them as-is. You can also print them two to a sheet (which is an option for most printers and copiers). This is what I do as it saves on paper and the sheets will fit in a spiral or composition notebook. The second size is formatted to fit on a standard composition notebook page (but it will also fit in a spiral notebook). Additionally, there are two links included in the pdf: one which opens a digital version of the notes, and another that opens a slide show version, optimized for a projector or interactive board. In both cases, which you click the link, you will be prompted to make a copy, which you can then use with Google Slides or download and use with Keynote or PowerPoint. What's included?
