Introduction to the Chocolate Box CVC Words Pack Are you looking for a fun activity encouraging children to get much-needed sounding out practice of CVC words? Look no further! These boxes of chocolates help children get the practice they need in sounding out CVC words. Children take a box of chocolates and decode each word in the box. The objective of the Chocolate Box CVC Words Pack Some children need extensive early blending practice, and finding ways to encourage them to keep trying and practising can be challenging. These chocolate boxes can help! Children will be drawn to the chocolates and want to sound out the words on each chocolate in each box! With 18 boxes to choose from, each focusing on a sound family (e.g., ap/at/ot/ut/ etc.), children will get plenty of practice! Order, Outline and Steps Preparation Print all pages except the first page. Cut each page in half Laminate the half-pages Suggested activities Give each pair of children 4 boxes. Let them each choose a box and read the words to their partner. The partner then takes a box and does the same. Let one child see how many boxes they can read in a set amount of time, e.g. 3 minutes. With a group of children, scatter the boxes on the table. The children choose a box, read the words, and place it to their right. They then take another box and do the same until no more boxes are left. The child with the most boxes when there are no more left is the winner. You can, of course, make up your own ways of using the Chocolate Boxes Grades or ages: Pre k to Grade 1 and special needs of any grade or age Who can use the Chocolate Box CVC Words Pack? Halloween Number Matching Game – Spot It Style Cards for Numbers 0–30

Halloween Number Matching Game – Spot It Style Cards for Numbers 0–30
Holiday & Seasonal, Language Development, ELA, Special Resources, Special Education Needs (SEN), Halloween, Holidays, Math, Early Math, Numbers, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Activities, Games, Worksheets & Printables, Task Cards, Quizzes and Tests, Teacher Tools, Quizzes, Projects, Flashcards

Halloween Number Matching Game – Spot It Style Cards for Numbers 0–30 This Halloween number game is designed in the style of “Spot It,” but with a focus on number recognition from 0 to 30 . I first tried it with a kindergarten group who were working on number sense and one-to-one matching, and it quickly became a favorite activity. The Halloween images give it a seasonal feel, but it stays simple enough for young learners to use without distraction. The set comes with 93 cards , divided into three full decks of 31 cards each. Every card shows six numbers, and any two cards always have exactly one number in common. Students compare their card with the one in the center pile and race to spot the matching number. The first to call it out keeps the card. Play continues until the pile is finished, and the player with the most cards wins. There are three versions of the cards included: round, square, and hexagonal. I usually prepare one laminated set to use in math centers, while keeping the printer-friendly square cards as a backup. The hexagonal cards are fun if you want to offer a different look, and they tend to spark extra interest. This game supports a range of early math skills. Students practice number recognition, visual scanning, and quick decision-making. In small groups, it also helps with social learning – taking turns, encouraging others, and coping with both winning and losing. For some of my ESL students, saying the numbers out loud during the game provided extra practice with pronunciation. It works well in centers, as a transition activity, or as an option for early finishers. The preparation is minimal: just print, cut, and, if you’d like, laminate for durability. Because the game can be played quickly, it fits easily into a short block of class time. Recommended for Pre-K, kindergarten, and grade 1, though older students might enjoy it as a light challenge. This resource combines the excitement of a Halloween theme with meaningful math practice, and it can be reused year after year. Warm regards, Lernfitness Did You Know?
